Anything you could be uncomfortable with regarding a psychiatrist/medications occurs with this Dr.

Moved back to the area after being away for some time and wanted to see a new psychiatrist. I had been in a comfortable situation with my previously prescribed medications and basically wanted to continue this with maybe a referral for a therapist. Had my consult with him just today. His background questions were limited. He expressed confusion about several of my statements, but would not elaborate on what was so confusing. I feel like he was just not listening. When I expressed my concerns regarding my mental heath issues, he zoned in on areas that he thought were important, but basically were not any concerns of mine currently. For example, he zoned in on the fact that I have anxiety towards public speaking (no other aspect of my life) but ignored the fact that my concentration is so impaired at work that I’m at risk of losing my job over it. He ended up prescribing Lexapro for me to take. When I expressed my concerns that I didn’t have depression or generalized anxiety, therefore,… I am not sure why this was being prescribed to me, he ignored me. Did not explain reasoning behind prescribing me this medication. Told me to come back in 8 weeks. I told him I would not be back.

He could care less about his patients. Like the other review said all he cares about his pushing you through as quick as he can. Prescribes meds without explaining anything and then says to schedule an appointment. Doesn't talk unless he's talking down on you or shutting down anything you tell him. Do whatever you can to avoid this doctor. He's only there to earn a paycheck.

I have been treated by Dr. Karumudi for the past 10+ years; and I would not go to anyone else. Why? Well, because he knows me and is familiar with my case. He has never verbally "punished" me, like some doctors have in the past. He has ALWAYS maintained professional boundaries. Yes, you may have to be a bit pro-active with him, but as many patients as he treats, I think that he does a very good job. I think he gets a bad rap because his English wasn't that good at first,; but he has improved greatly since he first started. I recommend this doctor to my family and friends, period.

The last appointment he spent 5 minutes with my son and did nothing at all, told us to come back in 3 months! Forget him, he is there to prescribe meds and collect money in my opinion.
