Dr. Ann Marie Wurst, MD

Dr. Wurst has got to be my favorite doctor and I usually am apprehensive about doctors in general. I have been going to her for years and was looking up her number because I think I am close to appointment (I forgot the date). Sadly, I saw these negative reviews. Let me tell you... From the first time I met her years ago, til present, she makes me feel comfortable as if we've been friends forever. She's honest, straight to point and real. I want a doctor who I feel comfortable talking to, asks me how I feel about what she's saying, and who will be real with me. She's all that. She'll give my concerns her immediate attention and let me know the facts about them. She'll give me guidelines on how to proceed and listen to my ideas. I'm sorry some of these people have had issues, but there are two sides to every story and you're only hearing one.

I have never "rated" a doctor in my life, but I feel like this experience was so bad I want to warn others. A few years ago I was having periods so heavy that I required blood transfusions. A hematologist recommended birth control, and I received an IUD from a nurse practitioner in Dr. Wurst's practice, where I also found out that the bleeding was caused by sizable fibroids. I came to see Dr. Wurst because I was having serious side effects from the IUD, including a flare up of my rheumatoid arthritis (I have since found many articles linking IUDs to rheumatoid arthritis) and gaining about 50 pounds within several months after implantation. Since I was gaining weight in my stomach particularly, I was afraid my fibroids were growing (my uterus was the size of a 2-3 month pregnancy when first diagnosed). I knew my body was reacting badly to the IUD, but I was also scared to have it removed because I did not want to become dangerously anemic again. Dr. Wurst--immediately, completely,… and rudely--dismissed my concerns about side effects, literally arguing with me that hormonal birth control could never have caused weight gain because it was localized in my uterus and that nothing applied locally could ever cause a systemic reaction. (She tried to explain this to me by telling me about Head-On; I don't have a medical degree, but I'm pretty sure Head-On could cause a systemic reaction if someone was severely allergic to it.) Her aggressive and argumentative attitude completely negated my own experience of my body, and I truly think she didn't believe I was having the symptoms I described. She did a trans-vaginal ultrasound and said my fibroids had shrunk. After I started literally CRYING, feeling doomed to a poor outcome with or without the IUD, she said aggressively, "I feel like you want me to tell you that there's something that can be done about this." I asked if there were any non-hormonal options and it was only then that she talked about one: uterine ablation (there are several other non-hormonal options). My visit with her made me feel so terrible that I knew I didn't want to go to her for further treatment; it also made me reluctant to see anyone else since she made me feel like the situation was made-up or hopeless, even though my RA flare became so extreme that I had to go on steroids twice. When I finally did see another gynecologist, she said that I was not even a good candidate for uterine ablation and suggested a hysterectomy. She removed my IUD and I lost 20 pounds quickly without changing my diet or exercise regimen. My RA flare-up improved quickly, as well. When I had my hysterectomy, my uterus was the size of a five-month pregnancy. I am so thankful to have found the surgeon that helped me to resolve a serious medical problem in a professional, caring way. I have had a chronic health condition since childhood and have seen many, many doctors. None has ever made me feel invalidated. Never has another doctor implied that I was manufacturing symptoms. Never has another doctor spoken to me so rudely. My experience with Dr. Wurst negatively impacted my physical and mental health.

She is the worst. She made me feel so bad about myself.

She is a very kind and caring doctor. I had a very good experience with her.

As a patient, I have always found D.r Wurst to be very attentive and the office professional. I have had great experiences with her as well as the nurse practitioners and nurses.

Dr. Wurst is a great person to see. She performed a colposcopy on me and made it way less scary. She talked to me the whole time and was personable. She also discussed pediatricians with me for my little one on the way. She's super down to earth and makes you feel comfortable asking silly questions. She wears everyday clothes and makes the environment comfortable!!!

Extremely rude. In an accusatory tone asked me why I was there and then introduced herself as an after thought. Hadn't looked at my chart and wouldn't listen to my explanation of my problem. Spike down to me as though I was just looking for drugs and needed to get over it, even though my pain was so bad I was unable to move the previous evening. Then proceeded to insult me for having an infant who woke up to feed more than twice in a night even though infant is only today 1 week old. Would NOT reccommend her, but the other doctors and midwives at this practice have all been very caring, professional, and supportive.

My two daughters and I go to Dr. Wurst. She is always very caring and spends plenty of time listening. She is exceptional and I would recommend her to anyone!

Did not receive a phone call to remind me of my appointment the next day. I pre-registered on line. First thing at the window-paperwork to fill out-did not know about the pre-registeration. Waited in outside waiting room 1/2 hr., moved to an inside room, talked to another person for less than 1 minute, waited to talk to the doctor, waited another 1/2 hr for doctor, then moved to the exam room, waited 45 minutes for the exam, which lasted about 5 minutes. Said she could prescribe some creme, but "BUT IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE"--repeated about 5 times that "IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE". The WORST doctor visit I have ever had. Is it because I am on medicare? I have very good insurance besides medicare, plus good drug coverage.The question how long was your wait at the office needs to allow for more than an hour!I "DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO GO TO THIS DOCTOR"
