Dr. Anthony Arnold Amato, MD

If you are looking for someone to let you know how smart he is, someone who talks down to not only the patient but the fellows he oversees, then you have found him. I read reviews prior to seeing him & thought people were mean. They were like prophets!

Very bad. A doctor has rarely angered me as this one has. His operation is a bait and switch. I made the appointment with this doctor based on his experience. Instead I was switched to a junior doctor without my assent. BHW website switched the doctors name on the doctors listed on the Patient Gateway so I could not reach Dr Amato. On the appointment day he showed up 25 minutes after the junior Dr.did testing, in which I do not have confidence. He proceeded to do a perfunctory five minute alleged test, offered nothing and breezed out. I will file complaints with BWH and the medical board because this is duping . In retail it is bait and switch. Avoid this Dr and BWH

As arrogant as they come. First time wanted me to only see a Fellow, I refused. Second time he did not listen to one thing I said and did the stereotypical and said it was in my head.

Rude, narcissistic and horrible

Dr Amato is very knowledgeable and would highly recommend him. Always gets back to me and is able to see me if needed. Feels he really care about the patient.

Very happy to have Dr Amato as a provider. He is very intelligent and through. He is always up to date on the results research. He is also very kind and caring. He puts my fears at ease.

Not much personality, but I guess I'm not paying for personality. Dismissive. Judgemental, i would imagine doctors who have made up their minds to treatment before actually meeting the patient are more likely to miss things. He wasnt open minded. Clearly hadn't read my file from doctor that referred me. Contradicted info my neurologist and rheumatologist have already given me based on spending about 5 minutes with me. Luckily just a surgical procedure and I will go back to my neurologist who actually cares. He is pompous and rather rude. His staff at Brig and Women ambulatory care are awesome!!

Dr Amato's criteria for diagnosing conditions is highly questionable. He failed to interpret a test properly, and failed to see what three other neurologists could see from his same test. He yields many false negatives, due to incorrect criterion, thus subjecting patients to many expensive and unnecessary tests. He also spends very little time with the patient. The entire time he was in the room he spent yelling at his staff.

I would recommend Dr Amato to anyone with a neuromuscular problem.

Despite comments about Dr. Amato before I saw him, I found him professional and caring.
