Dr. Anthony Lawrence Bostick, MD

I was taken by ambulance to McLeod for shortness of breath, chest pains etc, you get the deal, pretty much doubled over in pain, I held my breath to see which Dr. was going to step into my room. Was it the mean Dr. that lectures you for 5 minutes because you have a couple drinks a week and maybe a cigarette or two and doesn't care anything about what you are going through. How about the Dr who has terrible bed side manners and makes you feel worse? Well, that never happened, Dr. Bostick walked in instead. Thank God, Dr. Bostick actually stopped, listened, asked questions, questions that didn't make me feel like I had done something wrong and had to explain my life away. Although I was in pain, he made a few jokes which lightened the mood and when he left I knew that I was going to be in good hands. he came back about an hour later to check on me, and since I had been there all day, had one of the nurses get me a glass of water. He didn't rush through anything, asked questions, wrote… things down and was just THERE! I knew they were super busy, but he acted like I was the only patient and all his attention was just on me. It was greatly appreciated and I just hope the next time, God forbid, I have to go to McLeod, he will be there! Maybe he can teach some of the other doctors grace and bedside manners!

Dr Bostick doesn't deserve the one star. He was rude, disrespectful and insensitive. My 1st time speaking with him, he tells me that I need to manhandle my son. I paid him no attention, and the second time he asked me when am I going to stop playing games with my son. I didn't ask him what he meant by that, but he looked annoyed that I was back at the ER. The last time I spoke with Doctor Bostick he told me to file a police report on my son who has autism and sometimes aggressive behavior. I explained that I don't want my son to have a police record and he responded by saying "Why not, he will never work anyway" I tried to nicely speak with him and he said that if I don't want his advice, me and my son can leave. That was already a bad week for me, my account was hacked and I had other bad things happen. When I started crying he shut the door and became annoyed, saying he has no time to deal with me. He then fully out of spite lied in his notes that got aggressive. He also lied… and said that I plan to keep my son in the hospital until placement can be made no matter how long. I mentioned that I am working with my caseworker to get help inside my home ,so saying that is false. He lastly wrote in his notes that he suspects that I have psychiatric issues. I sure he put this in his notes after I spoke with his supervisor about his comments. Any parent would get upset with a doctor who tells them not only to file a police report against their child but to say that their teenager will never work.

I was feeling awful when I went to Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg SC. I've been meaning to write this review but just haven't Gotton around to it until now. I saw him in the ER back in August. Rest assured he has your best interest in mind (if your lucky enough to have him for your ER Doctor) and has wonderful bedside manners! Highly recommend!!!
