Dr. Anthony Edward Chiodo, MD

Dr. Chiodo has been extremely helpful in my selecting a current solution with intermittent catheterization (IC), and my search to obtain accessible or 'usable' housing. I was a patient in UMICH Physical Medicine and Rehab in 1972, just after my spinal cord injury from a car accident- when my car's tire blew on Canada highway 401 and the car tumbled down a 60ft embankment, tossing me around. UMICH's vigorous Rehab Program helped me to get back on the road, and back to work. And allowed me to be highly active in obtaining Accessible Architecture and Transportation. At that time, intermittent catheterization (IC) was new, and it released us from having to carry urine around strapped to our leg. Last year, Dr. Chiodo allowed me to discuss with him of the frustrations of IC and some useless 'solutions'. Our discussion helped me to choose a good solution for me. As of this year, I have moved for my job several times, and have not always visited medical resources (working a lot). Dr.… Chiodo has assisted me by communicating with sources of housing/ apartments of my disability, allowing me to obtain accessible or 'usable' apartments.

How can he be compassionate yet never met but is pulling all the strings and refuses even to talk.

Dr. Chiodo has treated me for over 10 years and has never been wrong with his diagnosis or treatment plan. He is pleasant and is never rushed to answer questions. I do believe he is genually concerned about his patients' well being. I would be lost had I not come upon such a great doctor.

Dr. Chiodo listened, asked many questions while demonstrating what he meant, and consulted with a doctor in another field. i.e. He was incredibly thorough and found the source of my problem so that it could be corrected. Dr. Chiodo is an excellent doctor.

I had back injections done at U of M Back and Spine Clinic. Chiodo was suuposed to be giving the injections however part way through I could tell that another Dr. was actually giving the injections under Chiodo's direction. No one asked for our permission or even informed us that an assistant would be doing the injections, not Chiodo. This is HIGHLY unprofessional. If you se Dr. Chiodo, make sure he and only he does both your intake interview as well as your injections. ALSO, make sure you get a COPY of ALL paperwork that you sign. Make certain to tell the staff, no residents or assistance give the injection and that Chiodo does it himself. This after a very painfull injection and two very painfull days post injection done by a clumsy assistant.
