Dr. Anthony Keith Cryar, MD

My symptoms were outside the usual box for thyroid patients, and initially Dr. Cryar acted like he would pursue testing and try to get to the bottom of it. We had a pleasant enough visit, he asked if I wanted to schedule follow-ups (which I did) and ordered labs. Then I get a message in my chart that my labs were normal so he cancelled my appointments since I was unhappy with my care anyway. There was no way to think I was unhappy with my care unless he was given my Press Ganey review (which patients are led to believe are anonymous and confidential) where he did not get 5 stars. He commented in the message that since I had been seen by endocrinologists before (he made up an inaccurate number) who found nothing wrong, I basically needed to go away and did not deserve care. But hey, if I wanted to beg for my appointments back I could! Also, he called in Rx for increased dose of meds. Which he says I don't need (nothing wrong, remember?) and cancelled any follow up. Is it safe to just… take these meds unmonitored for a condition you don't have? I found an endocrinologist in Boston (Harvard affiliate) who is doing a thorough workup because my symptoms are NOT normal. In my experience BSW physicians cannot handle anything that isn't gift-wrapped in the perfect normal box of illness identical to what everyone else has. But endocrinology, Dr. Cryar in particular, add a level of arrogance, condescension, and disdain that is beyond the pale even for BSW.

I have been seeing Dr. Cryar for issues I have been having with my diabetes control. He has taken the time to listen to my issues and has assisted me in correcting my problems. I had a nurse visit and when I asked if I could speak with Dr. Cryar he came in after he finished with the patient he was seeing and listened to my concerns and we made changes to my pump. I am not sure about others, but Dr. Cryar and his staff have been very receptive, helpful and courteous to me during my visits and when I have questions. I respect and trust him. Dr Cryar never responded to multiple requests in my chart. I liked him when I had my appointment, but I was extremely disappointed he didn't respond to prescription question on my chart.

Didn't review most of my symptoms.

I tried to find a place on S&W's web site to file an official complaint on this doctor after my second visit. Both visits a year apart had an hour wait with about 2 to 3 minutes with the doctor, who basically just filled out his paper work & never read his own questionnaire we had completed for him. So he is only interested in telling you how you feel & not finding out how you are actually doing. He is a very insecure little man that is likely in over his head & does not want to hear anything other than his 30 years in the past opinions.

Caring and professional... thanks to this great doctor, I feel like a new person.

I can't wait to go to my family doctor and tell her about Dr Crayar. He was so nasty!! He won't let you ask anything. If you do, he cuts you off and then will shut his eyes like he is mad at you for asking anything! I didn't know much more when I left then when I came in. He is the worst doctor I have ever seen!!!

This doctor spent almost an hour with me, provided details of absolutely everything he did with me, gave his professional opinion & left me with the final decision. Bedside manner was impeccable! I couldn't have been more pleased!

Dr Cryar might be a good Endocrinologist,but has absololutely no people skills & is treathing his patients with disrespect with no compassion or understanding for their medical or mental condition, the only thing he has going for him is his partner ship with Julie Lott,he could really learn a lot from her

I had cancer and he told me everything was wrong with me it was all in my head. Three weeks later another doctor was performing surgery and told me I had cancer.
