Seemed not to listen and cysto'd me denying lidocane as "it does not work". BS. Told me I would likely wear a catheter forever because I could not bear the pain of a Turp. Run as fast as you can to get away. I went to his FORMER employer had a much more compassionate Urologist who perfomed cysto and performed a turp in one stop under anesthesia. Problem solved. This guy was the worst medicl experience of my life

Maria the practice office manager is still avoiding us after 6 months trying to reach her. She had us put $500 down for a surgery in April. She said she’d send the $500 back after it went through insurance. Months ago we got the statement and insurance covered it. I’ve been calling and calling and 6 months later I still cant get a call back. On the off chance I can get a live person on the phone, they transfer me to Maria who sends us to voicemail. We’ve left countless messages. We finally drove to the office from Maricopa, where I live on Thurs oct 19 and due to construction it was a 4 hr round trip. When I got to the office they said she was busy in her office and they’d leave her a message knowing I just had to drive 2 hours just to talk to anyone. I said I’d wait as long as it took. While I was in there my family was out waiting in the hot car which they also knew. I started to explain the situation to an inquiring patient in the waiting area. This finally got Maria’s attention… and she came up to talk to me. At first she said they were still waiting on insurance. I showed her all my insurance paperwork from months ago confirming they owe $500. Then she said the reason she didn’t send it was because she writes out checks once a month from their checkbook and accidentally missed me. For 6 months??? She claimed she never received any messages from us. She said she’d look into it and calls us and mail a check. I didn’t trust her to do any of those things at this point. She didn’t care at all that we had to make a drive and the whole office had this rude and oddly dismissive attitude. I said I didn’t trust that she’d do what she said she’d do so I’d make the 4 hour trip again to come back to get the check another day. She said come Wed. I asked if she was sure or if she needed more time. She promised she’d call and meet us somewhere else to give it to us that day. Wednesday came and we never heard from Maria. I waited and gave her until Friday before I called the office. Of course she was busy but they promised she’d call me in an hour. 4 hours later I heard nothing from her and at that point she wouldn’t take my calls. It was getting to be the end of the day so I got desperate and tricked the automated phone system and finally got a PA to answer a call. He was very nice and seemed concerned and then he transferred me to someone who could help me. Unfortunately the person he transferred me to was Maria. Smh. (Pro tip: when trying to reach a live person in this practice who won’t blow you off- press the option that says you’re a doctor or pharmacist or the option to talk to one of the physicians assistants. Whatever you do, don’t pick the option of being an existing patient) Of course Maria answered the phone when the PA reached out to her and asked her to. We told her we were coming to pick up the check so we wanted to make sure she was there, She said there is no check. That’s really all she would say. She had no reason. I pointed out they were paid twice. She agreed and really had nothing else to say about it. It was a very strange conversation that made us feel like she did something weird with our money. She said she just didn’t think of it. She said she forgot we came in. She said she didn’t know when we could expect a check. Then she tried giving us her personal cell phone number so we didn’t have to involve anyone else in the practice again. I told her I’d be going to the PA directly from now on. To be fair the PA was concerned and did call me back to tell me he’d call me back again Monday after they got with Maria to see what happened with our refund. He was very nice but he didn’t call us with any updates Monday. It’s now almost November and I had this surgery in May. I’m at a loss so I’m starting my scathing review tour as a last effort to get this Practice to pay us back. They’ve been paid twice. I guess the legal route is next. I’ve already spent $50+ in gas and a half day off work to get this refund.

Pompous, condescending, rude, and arrogant. Just a piece of garbage human being

Courteous and open. Was late for appointment, but apologized with sincerity. History and exam was unhurried and thorough. Provided detailed explanation of my condition and patiently answered all of my questions. It was clear to me that Dr. Woodruff sincerely cared about my condition. He engendered trust and made me feel happy and confident that he would be providing great, up-do-date care.

Ordered unnecessary procedures and subjected me to risks. His poor knowledge and diagnosis contributed to many years-worth of pain. I came in having had blood in my urine and pain in my lower right quadrant of my abdomen. I had a CT scan done on my abdomen which showed a 6mm stone. I asked him if the pain in my abdomen could be due to the kidney stone, to which he very stridently said "No, no, not at all". Instead he scoped my bladder, which was uncomfortable and totally unnecessary and ordered another CT scan! This man should not be allowed to practice medicine. Due to his sincerity of my pain not being due to my kidney stone, I wandered around to other types of doctors looking for answers. Years later I found a legitimate urologist who listened, explained what could be happening, and ultimately performance lithotripsy (which was successful). After the removal of the stone, I was pain free in my abdomen for the first time in my life. Woodruff’s ignorance and “certainty” is… criminal. Do not go to this man. Regarding CT scans: he talked about doing them like it was nothing, yet CT scans subjects you to an extremely high amount of radiation. There is correlative evidence it may aid in the development of colon cancer. Do not submit yourself to a CT scan unless absolutely necessary. Kidney stones can often be seen on ultrasound, CT scans are not always necessary.

This is the worst place in Arizona for prostate care. Had initial appointment, had the digital rectal exam, then had a biopsy done, followed by review appointment with Woodruff, then went for imaging to be done after I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The care could not be any less compassionate. Woodruff is a real butt hook. No humanity, no human kindness, no feeling for his patients, no compassion or caring. Office staff is rude and after having all appointments and imaging done (5 hours at SMIL) I drove the 4 hour round trip to Phoenix to speak with Woodruff about the recommended treatments and to get his opinion. People in this position are terribly stressed, depressed, frightened... and I get to the front desk and was told by a very rude receptionist "I DON'T GOT YOU SCHEDULED FOR NOTHING. YOU DO NOT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY." I had the card at home, my wife verified I did have the correct day and time. When we called them back, I was told that "the doctor is taking… some days off so will not be available for an appointment for another 6 days." THIS IS THE WAY YOU TREAT A CANCER PATIENT THAT CANNOT EAT, IS UPSET, WORRIED, CANNOT SLEEP.... ??? People put their lives in these people's hands.... These are not caring professionals. This is a McDonald's for Prostates. It's all about money, not health. This is a horrible place to go.

I had a prostrate biopsy done because of higher than "normal" PSA numbers. He and is office staff are very efficient and one of the more on-time groups I've dealt with. (Many medical offices I deal with have a long wait after your scheduled appointment time - not so with Dr. Woodruff's) He is very thorough and gives a very good explanation of your situation - he does talk a bit fast, so pay attention and perhaps take notes, if need be. Good guy - good doctor!

Sent my stepmother home he same day as major surgery. She fell and broke her hip that night. Also gruff.

Moved my MIL's surgery TWICE after telling her they wouldn't do it again. She was so scared about the whole thing and almost cancelled the entire procedure. Instead, we found a new doctor with more expertise and helpful office staff. They don't advocate for patients or keep their promises. If you can't trust them to keep such a basic promise, how can you entrust your health to them?

Scheduled two appointments to see this physician, but never saw him. He was running one hour late for each appointment and I left after 30 minutes. Appeared to be the norm in this practice. Outrageous practice management - amazing that he has any patients at all.
