You will wait a bit for Dr. May if you are later in the day. Bring a book and stop whining. He spends the amount of time needed looking over your case and understanding (often) complex histories- and is exceptional! What other Dr. do you know that will spend an hour with you discussing history and what's worked and what hasn't and planning strategy? He is a neurologist dealing with your BRAIN and takes the time he needs to thoughtfully consider your issues and create a plan. This is not a drive through, nor would you want it to be if you are serious about your brain health. He is an incredible practitioner who listens and cares about outcomes and most of all, quality of life for his patients. Highly recommended!

Very inconsiderate of his patients and not at all helpful.

Dr. May performed a miracle on my husband 5 years when he could barely walk, sat in his recliner and wouldn't a shower unless I was home. Dr. May said he had been misdiagnosed and not treated properly with medication. He walks, bikes, swims and exercises. We did not mind the 45 minute drive. However, in the past 5 year, Dr. May has not been on time for one appointment. His nurse, Jen is a sweetheart, and has even scheduled us for the 1st appointment after lunch and we still waited 45 minutes. One visit we waited 1 1/2 hours. Dr. May takes the time with you but our time is valuable as well. Long periods of sitting are difficult for someone with PD. My husband has been experiencing mild dementia for a few years, but last weekend it took an abrupt turn with me speaking to him as if he was a child. This was devastating and will only worsen. In October an adjustment was made to Mirapex of an extra 1/2 pill. Within days my husband couldn't function, he didn't remember how to use the… microwave or even make a sandwich. I explained this and Dr. May's response was that he wanted him to stay on the new dose. Regardless of what Dr. May said, I took my husband off the extra dose. I called Wellspan back the next day and told them that this rate I wouldn't be able to keep my husband at home. Once again, Dr. May's response was to keep him on the same dose and did I want them to contact Alzheimer's Association to help me find a nursing home. I was not about to keep over medicating my husband and put him in a nursing home long before he would need one. Due to treating with Dr. May for so many years we decided to keep our December 1st appointment scheduled for 1:45 p.m. At some point, Dr. May's nurse noted the changes in his condition as well as the change in medication. By 3:30 she poked her head in and said Dr. May was wrapping it up with a patient, who wasn't his and would be in shortly. I went outside for a cigarette and returned 10 minutes later and my husband was still alone. We waited another 5 minutes and walked out of the facility. I was too angry to set up a follow-up appointment. We had left our home at 1:00 p.m. and arrived home at 4:30 and with the 3 1/2 hours of sitting, my husband paid for it the next day. Isn't our time valuable as well? Why not allow extra time if Dr. May is always running late. There had been no apology phone call to this date. I have located another neurologist within 10-15 minutes of our home and have started the process of having my husband's records transferred.

Twice, I"ve been to this office and both times, I've had to wait 2 hours past appointment time to be seen. This is very frustrating , considering I'm elderly with many chronic pains and sitting around waiting is torture for me, but I have no choice. Maybe, they should either increase the number of doctors to accommodate patient times, or just not over book people---it is inconsiderate and rude to make people wait endlessly.

We did wait past our appointment time but consider it well worth it. I am a nurse with almost 47 years experience and I've worked with an extensive number of doctors, of all calibers. Dr May is excellent. This physician runs late because he gives each patient his undivided attention. He listens intently and does not mind family's observations. He is observant and picks up on subtle symptoms. I feel blessed that we were able to see him and deeply appreciate his care.

Though we had to wait in the waiting room for at least 40 minutes, the physician gave us all the time we needed, was attentive, kind and professional and very bright. We would recommend him in a heart beat.

As the only Parkinson's specialist in the area, I expected to have to wait a long time to see him- I was mistaken. I was scheduled quickly and seen within 2 weeks. He spent over an hour with me, was so thorough and patient- answered all our questions and gave us educational materials too (at no cost). My follow up appointment was scheduled at that visit, and his staff called me a week later to check on how I was doing on the medications he ordered. My quality of life has improved 100%- he gave me my life back! I would recommend him to anyone that wants and accurate diagnosis and the best of care---and I'm a nurse, so I'm an excellent judge of care providers.

I was never in my life mistreated by any doctors as this one. He said my problems were all in my head. Was accompanied by a family member. Dr. May told my family member when I was not present that I was an abused person. Never even examined me. Went to Johns Hopkins and was diagnosed with pituitary tumor. This doctor was totally out of line. Filing complaint with the American Medical Association. I was crushed. Went to him because I was so sick and needed help. Family member could not believe how we were treated. Appalling!!!!! Someone who would have not believed in themselves and believed the doctor who knows what they would have done. Thank God for Johns Hopkins!!!!! They saved my life.
