Dr. Anton Marcus Melnyk, MD

If you want a doctor that goes on vacation and has no team to make critical decisions in your treatment in his absence, then Dr. Melnyk is your guy. My Uncle had esophageal cancer at the same time as my priest. Dr. Melnyk was on vacation during critical points in my uncle's treatment that could have prevented his cancer from spreading. My priest went to MD Anderson in Houston and thankfully had treatment and surgery and is in remission. When we decided to put my uncle in hospice, Dr. Melnyk was the last to know...due to being out of touch. He came into his room and was trying to still give us more treatment options, within 12 hours of deciding he go into hospice, he lost consciousness and passed a couple days later. We never once received condolences from Dr. Melnyk or his staff. I guess he was more focused on who was still alive that he could fund his next trip to the Alps or wherever he was planning to go next.

Dr. Melnyk is very kind and compassionate. He listens and is knowledgeable regarding the latest in cancer treatments.

Dr. Melnyk has treated me for CLL since 2008. Through good days and bad, he has been there to treat any complications from the treatment, and to celebrate the wins as well. We have survived my stem cell transplant, and together we are fighting GVHD which resulted from the transplant in conjunction with the doctors at the Transplant Hospital in Dallas. I have total confidence in Dr. Melnyk and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate physician.

Dr Melnyk's office staff is very rude and unprofessional. When asking questions they do not give time for responses or listen to the person giving responses. Compassion and willingness to solve problems should be priority. Demands set a negative tone. We can all strive to do better each day.

Dr. Melnyk missed and/or forgot about a critical report on a suspicious lesion. Found out much later (9 mo) when we saw the radiologist’s report for our own eyes. Our loved one had a highly metastatic cancer and unfortunately found this out too late and the cancer spread everywhere. He is needlessly arrogant because he is nowhere near as good an oncologist as he thinks he is!

Knowledgeable, thorough, kind and considerate, does not rush anyone, welcomes questions, a very kind and caring oncologist. He keeps up with new advances in his field as well as new drug and treatment trials. I would recommend him.

This Doctor needs to learn compassion. As far as medical knowledge my advice is for you to find another doctor. There are many goods doctor's in Texas. Trust me find another doctor that has a decent bedside manner and is knowledgeable in his field. We switched soon after or first appointment and I am so glad we did. Terrible this man is arrogant, rude and needs to back to med school or learn a new trade.
