Staff not very nice, seams not to really care about patients just getting to next in line. Wish I would have picked A different Doctor just because of the staff he has!

I am nine years out from my lap band surgery and a total weight loss of over 80 pounds. I started at 225 and now weigh around 143, which is a good weight for me and I wear a size 8. From the moment I entered the office I was treated professionally and with courtesy. Dr. Coiron is a gifted surgeon as what started out to be a simple laproscopic procedure turned into a full abdominal open surgery. I had scar tissue and adhesions from diverticulosis. He also found I had a fatty liver and talked to me about the seriousness of this disease. You have to want to change your life and you have to be serious about weight loss. This is a agent of change, but the effort and work is going to be up to you. I have never gained weight, but consistently dropped. I eat healthy and maintain an active lifestyle. I have no reservation in recommending this procedure to anyone who has struggled with their weight. I also think Dr. Coiron is a gifted, and caring surgeon. His staff was always polite… and caring.

This is what happened; I've traveled all the way from the bay are as recommended by medical group, attended seminar, Dr Courin stuff member knew what type of insurance I had ( I marked it down when returning the a thick packet before entering seminar) few weeks after attending seminar they called me to schedule an appointment, I once again told them what kind of insurance I had, she said "no problem" as I arrive they asked for my insurance card (lady at front made a copy), then I spend at least 30minutes trying to answer another huge packet of questions (sort of like testing me) hand it over to them, then I talk to one of the assistant, he was kind of rude, then I spoke with another lady "Sherry" I believe was her name, she give me a list of specialist I had to see before the surgery, my surprise was that about a week after they did all the above things, she calls me and says "we don't work with that insurance" I told her then why, I wasn't told that at the beginning, she said "because… it's out of area" I said then why you didn't tell me in the first place, why make me waste time, then call the insurance and they said, it was covered and they do work with them, so called the lady back again, she said the something again, I mean I could of make more phone calls to medical group as they were the ones who send me there but decided not to bother again, it appears that they not only have preference for certain people, but they also very discourteous and rude. I bet that if I was paying cash they would of take me. I'm sure this doctor doesn't care what his stuff does, or maybe he is the same way yet they have all kinds of discrimination signs and what they do and don't tolerate, but I guess they forgot to add one saying "we are allow to discriminate, treat patients any way we want" . I found a friendly doctor with friendly stuff members in my area, thank god. I will not recommended this to anyone at this time.

I deeply dislike stuff members, right when I arrived to the front window the lady was kind of rude, she said "can I help you" in a tone of voice not favorable, as soon as a guy showed up she was very nice to him, from her expression is got to be that she doesn't like certain races. Now lets talk about one of the ladies who I talked in side the room - she asked me where was I born, I'm guessing because of my skin color not sure why. What does the place where you are born have to do with the procedure or my health problems? Absolutely nothing!!!! I felt so uncomfortable that for a moment I thought she was ICE agent not a medical assistant not that I care, cuz I'm USA Citizen but still was no need to ask that kind of questions. Talking about poor professionalism. All you darker skin colored ladies, men be ready to answer that kind of question....is got to be some kind of limitations to our personal questions ask like, health problems, information about insurance not where you are born. I… probably visited more doctors than I can count but none of their stuff members ever asked my birth place or treated me like that. I suggest that you do some research on the doctor you're going to be seen, how the stuff member treat people, member you're going to see them often after the procedure.

when i arrived to my apointment the door was locked.so i had to walk to the pharmacy so they could call office.the office staff start discussing my health insurance so loud the other patient could hear they didn't respect my pivacy

Dr Coirin is the best. He is very informative, nice and helpful. The only problem is that you do not see him until the few minutes before surgery and then the last time you see him is when you are released from the hospital. His office staff are cordial but not really over friendly which is ok I have enough friends. Jerry the PA really doesn't review your file before you come in, he doesn't tell you how your bloodwork came out, he didn't even know what kind of WLS I had. I had to remind him everytime. He also had to be told each time I came in that I have other health issues, even tho they are major issues. He wants me to have more tests even though I have told him my issues are being taken care of by a specialist and have been for 10 years. I will not have any additional surgeries or health care by this office as I do not have trust in the ability of the PA to make these deterinations without consult of the surgeon. While I really love the surgeon I feel he needs more of a… relationship with his patients.

I am now 3 years post-op and feel like I am just as important today as I was the first time I walked through the door. No matter what I call about Sonja has been so friendly, patient and understanding, i have never felt stupid in asking anything. Dr Coirin was the friendliest dr i have ever had. The moment I saw him the morning of my surgery i was at peace. His follow up was excellent - i never feel rushed - HE CARES!!!! i have NEVER EVER doubted this choice for myself and am thrilled that i chose the right doctor and staff too!!!

Reading some other comments on here, I have to agree about Sonia and Regina. They come off very harsh and rude--at first. I guess you just have to get used to them because I get along with them now. HATED both of them at first. The office opens at 8am for appts, but the phone lines don't open til 830am. Well, they are suppose to anyways. If you try calling before 9am, 9 out of 10 times you will still get the medical exchange. I think they finally got rid of the one receptionist that would gossip and curse (yes, us people in the lobby could always hear you). The new girl Michelle seems to be on top of things. One last thing...Lap-Band patients: do NOT, I repeat DO NOT let Regina do your fill. Trust me! (And about a dozen other people I've heard horror stories from).

The doctor is great, but the staff on the othe hand is joke! They are very rude, their MA(medical Assistant) Sonia, very rude and two faced, the Nurse Practicioner, very rude!
