Dr. Antonio Ruelas, MD

Quickly sharing my experience with Dr. Antonio Ruelas. I’ve been on testosterone replacement therapy for years in Los Angeles. After moving to the Ventura area, my insurance assigned Dr. Ruelas as my primary care doctor. Almost every visit, he wanted to do prostate and testicular exams. I didn’t feel those exams were necessary every single time, so I declined. After that, getting my testosterone refills became more and more difficult until he eventually refused to continue treating me. None of my previous doctors, including my primary care physician and my urologist, ever handled my treatment this way. I reported my concerns to Community Memorial Healthcare Hospital, but nothing came of it. In my opinion, he’s also well past retirement. He constantly forgot medications and tests that he himself had ordered and seemed overwhelmed by basic medical questions. I wouldn’t recommend him. If you’re a parent and choose him as your family doctor, I’d suggest being present during your… teenager’s appointments…

Dr. Ruelas doesn't allow the insurance companies run his practice. He's built his practice on giving his patients the best care and friendly relaxed one on one attention in imparting a diagnosis and treatment plan. He's good natured along with his staff who are personable and friendly.
