Dr. April Angel Merritt, MD

CONS: Wait times for appointments can be a bit long, waiting for the doctor or the nurse can also take a while when they're finishing up with other patients. If you go to the smaller office on the east side of town, the receptionist can be a bit short. PROS: Dr. Merritt is AMAZING. She is never too busy for you and wants to make sure she's answered all of your questions. (this is probably the main reason she's late coming into appointments...she doesn't like her patients to feel rushed out.) Dr. Merritt and her nurse Kelly are both deeply invested in their patients, and will do their very best to provide the best care possible. I know this from PERSONAL experience all too well. My son was stillborn with no apparent cause (everything was done completely "by the book" by Dr. Merritt and through my lifestyle choices.) Even though Dr. Merritt was not even on call the night I went in to deliver, she showed up at 2:00am to be with me through it all. She went through everything… with me, what I should expect, and stayed as long as I needed her to. I feel completely assured that she would have done ANYTHING to prevent the outcome I got if it were at all within her power to do so. The other doctors at Delaney OBGYN are also very caring and compassionate. Dr. Chambers met me when I first got the news at the hospital, and Dr. Fritz delivered my baby for me. This is most heart-wrenching thing I've ever had to go through, and there is no other team of doctors in the world I would rather have by my side to do it. **The next time you gripe that your appoint is going late...remember that your doctor could have just spent her whole night crying with a patient that lost her child. Dr. Merritt did it for me. A doctor that will do that is worth a lobby room wait. :o)

Run away while you still can!!! The front desk staff is horrible, they are rude. Half the time when you call you get forwarded to voicemail, and it takes days for them to return your call. The worst part is that all they seem to care about is payment, I totally understand that they don't practice medicine for free but they make you pay for services BEFORE they're rendered!! I had to pay $1400 when I was 5 months pregant to "ensure delivery" of my baby, well I ended up changing insurances before I delivered and they wouldn't refund me the difference, I should Hv gotten $900 back. And then they have the audacity to ask me for $3 for a blood draw!! You have got to be kidding me. I'm pretty sure you'd get better service and medical treatment if you went to the health department! Hope you take this warning seriously!

They say that doctors make the worst patients, and I certainly would fit this stereo type. Without a doubt, I couldn't have been more happy with Dr. Merritt and her staff! They are all very knowledgeable, and took the time that was necessary to make me and my husband feel comfortable during my pregnancy. Halfway through my pregnancy, when I was finalizing my birth plan, I had multiple phone conversations with her nurse to discuss my wishes, and ultimately Dr. Merritt sat down with me and calmed my fears during a lengthy conversation. She was open to, respectful of, and worked with me through my natural birth plan. And they continued to work with me and my concerns when my son turned breech between weeks 40 and 41. I probably couldn't have been a more challenging patient for her, and she was respectful of both my physical and emotional health and well-being the entire way.

Dr. Merritt is wonderful. Her honesty, her compassion, her bedside manner. I would give her 5 stars if I could. Both her and her nurse are amazing and caring. Even my husband loves them!! I have had a couple serious issues with my second preganacy and she has been there every step of the way. She has even called me on her time off and private phone just to make sure I am ok. Seriously, she is my friend and treats me like one. Not just a paitient.

Dr. Merritt was my doctor when I was pregnant and also delivered my baby. She answered all my questions during my many visits. She put me at ease about my pregnancy and most importantly delivered my baby boy. I appreciated her taking the time to answer questions when I had them.

I've been with Dr. Merritt for 3 years and I love everything about her and her staff. I took my husband with my for my very first visit because I wanted someone we would both like for pregnancy in the future. She took us into her office and talked to us for about 30 minutes to answer all my questions before we even started the annual exam. Now two years later she is walking me through my first pregnancy. I can't say enough great things about her and every person on her staff from the receptionist and nurse down to the phlebotomist. They are all wonderful, take their time and explain everything thoroughly. I recommend her to anyone and everyone. My husband loves her because her and her nurse are very down to earth and treat you like family.

Love her and her nurse- very friendly and put you at ease.

Dr. Merritt is an excellent Doctor! I wouldn't let another Doctor deliver my baby. She has great beside manner and takes her time to make sure you are fully educated and informed. I just love her.

I am a new patient with Dr. Merritt and had a great experience.I had a 5 minute or less wait in her office and she took her time with me. I had tons of questions about preconception and she was able to answer each one in detail. She and her nurse have such a great bedside manner and I look forward to having her as my Ob/Gyn for regular visits and for my pregnancy. Thank you again Dr. Merritt!
