Dr. Apurva Vinaykant Shah, MD

I've been talking with a behavioral therapist who has a lot of knowledge and experience with ASD. She encouraged me to seek a diagnosis an Kaiser scheduled me with Dr. Apurva Vinaykant Shah. I had an intake call with his assistant who asked several questions then met with the doctor sometime later. The first 15 minutes of the appointment was the doctor chastising me for not bringing in someone who watched me during childhood like a parent or grandparent, even though I was never told that I needed to do that. Trying to explain to him that my family relations aren't that great did not change his stance. He told me if I was on the spectrum it would of very likely been caught in my childhood in the 90s and that children outgrown ASD and it manifests into other disorders like OCD. He compared being on the spectrum as having COVID-19 before there was a vaccine, deeming it the worst possible thing that could happen to a person with no cure. I left his office feeling humiliated and… defeated and with more research I've found that a lot of his claims are false or outdated. He blatantly lied on my past visit notes about my body language and eye contact. I would avoid this doctor at all costs.

This doctor wouldn't refill my anxiety meds, and I ended up going into servere withdrawals that landed me in the ER.
