Dr. Aria Mousa Jamshidi, MD

Aria M. Jamshidi, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in Complex Reconstructive and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. As a member of the neurosurgical team at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center, he specializes in treating many spinal conditions, including back pain, congenital abnormalities, degenerative spine disease, adult scoliosis, spinal cord compression, spinal stenosis, spinal infections, spinal tumors, meningiomas, schwannomas and cysts, spinal cord injuries and herniated discs.

Dr. Jamshidi completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, remaining at the school to complete a two-year fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Jamshidi then went on to complete an open vascular & skull base fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Having trained …with pioneers of neurosurgery at some of the top institutions in the world, Dr. Jamshidi both uses, and is involved in the development of, state-of-the-art intraoperative technologies that aim to make surgeries safer and less invasive, including three-dimension computer-assisted navigation, endoscopy, robotics and augmented reality. He has particular experience performing same day and "awake" spine surgeries using Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols when appropriate for patients, which aim to get patients home faster, with less pain, with significantly reduced opioid use, and without the negative effect of general anesthesia.

Dr. Jamshidi is committed to advancing the field of neurosurgery and spine surgery through other avenues. He has published over 55 peer-reviewed academic journal articles, written many book chapters, and presented his work at national and international meetings.
