My 14 year old daughter saw Dr Gandhi today for the first time. She is an excellent doctor. We were more pleased with our visit today. She is very caring and spent a lot of time with us explaining my daughter's condition. She was extremely thorough, asking many questions about my daughter's pain, and allowed us to talk with her about our concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Gandhi.

Our daughter has a rare auto inflammatory disease and was referred to the Cook Children's Pain Management clinic and Dr. Ghandi. Her disease creates a chronic and near constant pain level. We had to wait four months for an appointment, and had started physical therapy while waiting. Dr. Ghandi wanted her to do PT at a clinic closer to them, which was excessively far from where we live and were doing PT. After agreeing to let us remain at our PT, she prescribed meds that did not help and was frustrated with us when we reported they did not work. She tried to prescribe a med that is known to cause suicidal tendencies in adolescents which we declined to fill after being warned by our Rheumatologist and Pharmacist. We requested a referral to a pain management clinic closer to where we live and that request has still gone refused. We called when our daughter had a severe pain flare due to the cold weather triggering her disease and she could not walk due to the pain in both ankles, it took… multiple calls over three days to their nurse line before anyone called back to let us know they don't recommend temporary wheelchairs - even though she could not walk. No recommendation came so we rented a chair on our own for temporary use and to get her back to school. Today a call came to let us know that our daughter probably sprained her ankle and she would be okay in a few days. They remain entirely clueless to the fact she was referred to them for a disease that has nothing to do with sprains. This is who is working in pain management for your children at Cook Children's. I would avoid this at all costs if you are able.

She is extremely rude & arrogant. She does not listen or care to listen. She clearly states it's her way or no way. One of the worst experiences my daughter has had. Extremely disappointed as we had waited 4 months to get into see her. Absolutely would not recommend.

Dr. Gandhi is the Director of the Pain Clinic at Cook Children's Hospital and the PA that works with her was not nice. He was demanding & demeaning to me as a parent, uncompassionate, rude, and came across as very uncaring & scarey to my child. When I asked the Dr. for a minute alone with her prior to the whole team coming into the room, she was unpleased and matter-of-factly stated I had only the one minute. I indicated to her if we were to expect to continue to be treated in such a way that we felt uncomfortable being treated there, and thought it might best to leave, and she simply dismissed us proving how much she cared.
