Artem Y. Vaynman, M.D., F.A.A.N.S. F.A.C.S., is a board certified Neurosurgeon with special expertise in complex spinal surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Vaynman treats a variety of spine problems, such as degenerative scoliosis, spinal stenosis, compression fractures, back pain, herniated disc, and sciatica. Education - TrainingHe received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology, from New York University College of Art and Science where he was on the Dean’s List. During his studies at the NYU Department of Molecular Biology, Dr. Vaynman was awarded the National Scientific Foundation Grant for Research.Dr. Vaynman obtained his medical degree at SUNY-Downstate College of Medicine, Brooklyn, NY, where he graduated magna cum laude. He received the Jadwin Honor Scholarship, a Clinical Excellence Award while at SUNY-Downstate. At the New Jersey Medical School University Hospital in Newark, NJ Dr. Vaynman served as Resident in General Surgery and Resident in Neurosurgery. He then …became Chief Resident in Neurosurgery, Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ, followed by a position as Chief Resident in Neurosurgery, New Jersey Medical School, University Hospital, Newark, NJ. He holds medical licenses in California, NJ, and NY. Most recently he completed a Complex Spine Surgery Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.He authored a chapter on “Spinal Cord Injury and Paralysis” in Essentials of Orthopedic Surgery: Spine. Dr. Vaynman has published papers in multiple peer-reviewed journals on topics of brain injury and treatment of acute hydrocephalus.Dr. Vaynman is currently Ceo-Chief of Spine Surgery at Mercy Medical Center. In addition, as a Fellow Member of both the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Vaynman has presented at CNS and AANS annual meetings. He also performed Chief of Service Grand Rounds at UMDNJ-Newark, New York Neurosurgical Society and at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Spine Health, Cleveland, Ohio on multiple topics. I had a lower lumbar fusion with Dr Vaynman 2 months ago. I can not say enough about him and Liz and his staff at St Francis. He is an amazing surgeon, very attentive and cares about his patients. My pain is gone, I was feeling better in just a few weeks. Im very grateful that he was my surgeon, highly recommend!!

I saw a 3.7 rating? That has to be incorrect! Dr. Vaynman is a FIVE ?? All the way!!! He is the kindest and most thorough Dr and takes his time with you! An EXCELLENT Surgeon! If someone rated him less than the Five ?? They did not listen to him and follow his directions after surgery! I am truly GRATEFUL to have him as my SURGEON! Thank you Dr. And your wonderful STAFF as well!

Dr. Artem Vaynman did surgery on my back that left me in a wheel chair with no feeling in my left leg from the thigh down called cauda equina. Had to have another two surgeries at HSS to fix his mistake so I could walk, but the nerve damage is forever. Stay Away!

Dr. Vaynman is a nice man, and a good surgeon. Good luck getting an appointment though. You have to get through the "gatekeeper", his extremely rude secretary. Would never refer anyone here, just because I think patients should be treated with respect, and not hostility, from someone who works at the desk. It's a shame.

There was a bit of a long wait for Dr. Vaynman, but I did not feel rushed once I got to see him. He gave me a thorough examination, recommended surgery and answered all of my questions.
