Dr. Ashish Kapoor, MD

This is an extremely difficult review for me to write because this doctor was not just a neurologist to me — I considered them someone I trusted and thought genuinely cared. Over two years ago, when my mother first started showing concerning neurological symptoms and was still functioning relatively well, I reached out multiple times asking for help, guidance, or even just direction on what to do next. I made it clear that if insurance was an issue, I was fully willing to pay out of pocket. I tried more than once because I was genuinely scared for my mother and desperate to get her help early. Unfortunately, I felt completely ignored and unsupported during one of the most important times of our lives. Today, my mother’s condition is devastating. She now suffers from Parkinson’s and severe cognitive decline, and has deteriorated to the point where she can barely walk. Watching someone you love decline like this is heartbreaking, especially when you feel there may have been… opportunities to intervene, guide, or at least try to help earlier. I understand no doctor can guarantee outcomes, but responsiveness, compassion, and taking concerns seriously matter — especially in neurology, where time can be critical. My experience left me deeply disappointed and feeling abandoned when we needed help most. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this doctor to families navigating serious neurological concerns.

Horrific one-time experience. Complete lack of professionalism. My disabled elderly mother with MS and dementia waited for months for her new-patient appointment with Kapoor and was turned away the day of her appt for no apparent reason. It was clear that Kapoor had not opened her chart (forwarded by her previous neurologist) until her arrival, never mind reviewing its contents. Upon my mother's arrival he realized there was missing imaging and felt this was grounds for cancelling the appt (when I asked why his office staff could not request the images he became enraged that I had the audacity to make this suggestion). Furthermore, Kapoor insisted that I be there for the visit and when I offered to be present for the appointment over speaker phone, he was unable to provide me with an answer as to why that was not sufficient (note, my mother, the patient was seated in his office). My mother was transported by ambulette with her health aide to this appt which is never an easy… undertaking.

You cannot go wrong with Dr. Kapoor. He has been treating me for close to 2 yrs now and has referred me to specialist who could handle my issues with my thyroid which he was the only doctor who tested me for Hasimoto's disease. He is now treating in his Jersey City office for headaches and many other issues with my immune system. Many up coming test. The office is busy, the wait time is not long at all, and he gives you the time that is required to listen to your concerns and always caring and follows through with test if needed. His staff is amazing and Shea and his technician are always helpful and pleasant. I will not go to anyone but him knowing I am in good hands. I. Schaffer

I have been seeing three different neurologists since my Trumatic brain injury and brain surgery. The last neurologist I saw, very well known in the community, prescribed me a medication that caused epilepsy. I only found out in the emergency room when the doctors looked over my list of medications and said “don’t you know this causes epilepsy?”. A prior neurologist at $700 a visit that took no insurance six months after my visit his board certification was taken away by the board of medicine for violating medical standards. I have seen prior to reviews that indicate the wait time is too long. That is correct because he spends 30 to 40 minutes w each patient. During my second visit, my immediate comment was “I can’t believe you actually read my file b4 this application. All my prior experience has been a doctor pulling out a thin chart from the plastic folder in front of the door & walking in. I have seen & dealt with doctors as a result of my professional Career. As a trial… attorney I have defended doctors, hospitals, etc. In matters where a plaintiff had a medical doctor as an “expert witness”, I was quite successful at neutralizing his credibility, the basis of conclusion, etc. I have just celebrated my 38th year as a litigator. Dr. Ashish has referred me to other specialists I wanted to see. (I neglected to mention that he filed an appeal on my behalf on his own volition. THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR ME, is as I am leaving his office are his last words, “Don’t worry, I’ll always take care of you” ps: I strongly suggest you write out all your specific issues before your appt. My list ranges from 30 - 40 questions & within 10 -15 minutes we r through. Do make certain ur questions are specific & not "my leg is beginning to feel numb", Which leg; where; amt of pain; always or after an activity. Furthermore, he is simultaneously entering everything into his laptop. So, since u are entitled to ur own records, I ask for them. EVERY referral is great. If they're not taking new patients, he gives the dr a direct call & asks him to make an exception for me

This is the worst experience I have ever had. Firstly Dr. Ashish Kapoor got his degree from Kasturba medical college in India. A school known where you can buy your degree. Had I know that I would not have seen him. I strongly recommend people see Physicians that are educated in the USA. He lacks experience, compassion or qualifications and is only here to get a pay check from you. He works for his father practice Dr Vinood Kapoor who is equally horrible and only cares for money. Not only does the son work for the father but the daughter and wife do as well ! stay away , its a complete waste of time to see him!

Dr. A. Kapoor is awesome! He's such a caring person and his utmost concern is your comfort! The Doctor and his entire staff are always very friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Amazing!!!!
