Dr. Ashish Khandelwal, MD

Dr. Sorensen is a 1989 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He previously earned an undergraduate degree in economics at the University of Idaho. After a transitional internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, he served for four years as a General Medical Officer (GMO) in the United States Navy. He is a graduate of the Naval Undersea Medical Institute and was a Radiation Health Officer during his GMO years.

He completed his residency in radiation oncology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA, where he served as Chief Resident from 1996-1997. He then did a one-year Fellowship in brachytherapy at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. Dr. Sorensen was subsequently a staff radiation oncologist for Carolina Radiation Medicine, PA in Kinston, NC between 1998-2001.

He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology. He is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and …Oncology, the American College of Radiology, the American College of Radiation Oncology and the American Brachytherapy Society. His special interests include High Dose Rate brachytherapy, head and neck, and gynecological malignancies.
