Dr. Asima Rahman, MD

Dr Rahman was my primary care and I went to her explaining that I had been experiencing head pain. That I wanted a full exam because something was wrong. I mentioned my diabetes, polyps etc. she looked up my nose and said it was a sinus infection. For months I explained it was not a sinus infection. That my eyes were blurred and my head was on fire. In another visit I explained my hand was numb and arm and she advised we can solve everything today we are following up on your sinus infection. Where I repeated it was sinus I had not breathing issues. 5-6 months later I was so annoyed I told her to do something else and she told me to come in for a sinus CT and more antibiotics. I went but was still mad that she was saying sinus. Did the CT headed to the pharmacy to get now my third round of antibiotics and the radiology department called and told me to come back. I was in the line crying bc I knew something was wrong and now it’s around Xmas so I won’t find out for days after the… holiday. I get back into radiology and they now want a full scan. When they pull me out they tell me I have a brain bleed and Dr Rahman is there apologizing to me as the wise me away to GBMC where I under go brain surgery two days later on Xmas eve. Her lack of care and her not listening almost caused me to die. I had so much fluid built up on my brain that it shifted my head over to the right. Which could have caused a seizure in my sleep or driving at any time. The longer she waited the worse it got for me physically and mentally. If she had listen to all my symptoms and not written me off as another diabetic black women this could have been caught months earlier. My story get even worse after surgery and the follow through and follow up by Kaiser was the worse I have ever seen in my life. They didn’t stay connected to me after they sent me to GBMC. They requested I get copies of things from doctors they sent me to and GBMC sent me home with no nurse follow up and not speaking to my primary care or my primary care speaking to them.

Dr. Rahman was the kindest doctor I've ever seen, and it was the first time I've ever felt like I'd been "heard" by a doctor. I am so grateful to her and her staff for their time and their help.

Dr. Rahman was so awesome. She took her time, politely explained everything and was very personable. It was quickly obvious that she truly cares about her patients and i am happy I'm one of them.
