Dr Asma Khan

Condescending communicator, doesn't listen to concerns.

Love Dr. Khan. She is the best Diabetes Dr. I have ever had. She takes time to get to know all aspects of your life that affects your diabetes. She is a concerned doctor and is a good listener. She lets you be a part of the way you control your diabetes so that you can be more successful. She does not rush you and takes all the time you need to discuss your health. Gives a good check up at each visit. I would highly recommend her. I have been a patient for 6 years.

Opening comment was, "I didn't really read your file, so what are you here for?" Wow. This was the shortest doctor's appointment I have EVER had, much less for an initial appointment. When I left, I looked at the paperwork, and my long-known diagnosis that was on the paperwork when I went into the doctor had been changed to *unspecified.* She told me some information that is blatantly incorrect for my specific diagnosis, which she would have realized had she actually listened to WHICH disorder I actually have, not just used *unspecified* general disorder. I had so many hopes after waiting 3.5 months to get in, and I feel so very disappointed. Let down. Why would I pay for this kind of "care?"

Waited over an hour past my appointment time. Then no prescriptions were called into my pharmacy. Call day after my appointment no information could be found. Called 4 days after and still no information could be found. FINALLY 7 DAYS later it was found a submitted my prescriptions to my pharmacy. No attempt to order the specialty NO STICK GLUCOSE MONITOR I requested was made. I tracked down the forms and had to take them back to her office for them to be filled out correctly

I am a diabetic and on insulin. I first met Dr. Khan when Dr. Embar was out. I found her to be concerned about me. When I told her about my erratic sleeping habits she seemed concerned, and told me I needed to do better. Dr. Khan listened but did'nt cut me any slack.She was patient and kind. I liked her.

My father had a follow up on his thyroid, it was acting up and she put him on a new medication and told him he had high blood pressure to see his primary. He went there as told, that doctor put him on hbp medicine. This caused his thyroid to act even worse. Dr. Khan said, and even told his primary she would not up his thyroid medication because he isn't taking it right, so now he is stuck with these issues. My father takes his medication on a daily basis and even has an alarm set on his phone so he takes it at the same time every day. Needless to say he is looking for a new endocrinologist.

She listens and has helped me with my diabetes

Absolutely terrible. First of all, the office staff NEVER answered the phone. I called 5 times a day for 4 days and left 2 messages, and besides not answering the phone, no one ever called me back. I had to go to the office itself to make the appointment. Second, Dr. Khan saw me instead of the doctor that my cardiologist referred me to, for reasons I still don't know. I asked the office why I couldn't see Dr. Embar and they wouldn't give me a direct answer. My appt. was at 10 a.m., didn't see Dr. Khan until close to 12,, the waiting room was virtually empty, except for 3 people. Third, when Dr. Khan saw me, she didn't order any lab work at all, she felt my neck and my abdomen, and that was it. She basically said (not these exact words) "you're fat and you need to lose weight, and once you do that, everything will be fine. (She also said) the way you do that is by writing down everything you eat and count calories on everything you eat, and eat no more than a 1,000 calories… a day, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it really is. Do I need to lose weight? Yes. Am I losing my hair because I'm heavy? No. Something else is going on. She made no effort to figure it out. For all she knows, I could have a tumor. I will NEVER go back to that office. I'm telling my friends not to go to Dr. Khan, and now I'm telling you. I sure hope you found this helpful.

I love Dr. Khan. I've seen her for several years now. She's always so friendly and supportive. I feel very safe and confident with her managing my diabetes. The wait to see her is quite long, but I understand that as she always takes all the time I need with me and I'm sure she does with all her patients.

Went for two appts. Told me I was basically lying about what side affects I was experiencing from the insulin. I felt humiliated and depressed that no one is willing to say, "It isn't just you, many have problems taking these meds." I feel like no one cares if I live or die. Would not recommend her to anyone.
