Dr. Aspen Meda Calkins

Wow! I don't understand some of the other reviews. Dr. Calkins and all of her staff have been absolutely wonderful and caring to both my husband and myself. Dr. Calkins has interfaced with my husband's cardiologist to provide my husband with optimum care. On several occasions she has worked him into her already busy schedule. She has also taken the time to show and explain to him how his heart is working. I appreciate that she is willing and able to interface with his other specialists to give him the best possible care. In closing, I would like to mention that my father was an OB/GYN and I feel the care we have been given by Dr. Calkins is comparable with that I received from my father's partners.

I asked to meet Dr Calkins, rather than continuing to see only the PA, since she was my new primary and I have never even seen her. I was called by the receptionist and told to find another doctor. Apparently, if you wish to make your own decisions about your health and body that is not welcome. She is not interested in working with you unless you do as they say, take drugs, do xrays, or having an opinion about the body you live in. She is not interested in your opinion nor do you have the right to decide for yourself what drugs or x rays you wish to participate in. The PA had no personality, was patronizing and was not interested in learning about you at all. She just lumps you into into a category... all seniors must be demented, unhealthy and needs drugs. Sadly, continued experience with this doctor did not go well. When I called to make another appointment, I was unable to reach a live person for several days. After leaving two messages, I did not receive a call back. Due to it being a serious situation, I called again and had to leave another message. The next day someone called me to make an appointment. Due to another important issue that developed, I called and asked to leave a message for the doctor to call me. I was rudely told by the staff that the doctor was very busy and asked what I wanted. I said I only needed two minutes and it was important so I hoped the doctor could find two minutes throughout the rest of the day to call me. The staff rudely said ok and hung up. I never heard from the doctor. The next day I left a message to cancel her next appointment since we were not important enough to call back. No response from the doctor. What a disappointment and unfair way to treat my mother!

I took my 86 yr. old mother to see Dr. Calkins hoping for a doctor who cared about their patients and would provide the medical attention she needed. Dr. Calkins is absolutely that doctor! She treated both my mother and me with respect and kindness, and patiently asked many questions to determine her needs. And she listened! What a refreshing change. We were so relieved and happy. I am so glad to know that now my mother's health is being handled by such a kind, knowledgeable, competent doctor. The staff also were friendly and well organized making it an all around pleasant visit.
