My experience with Doctor Athos Patsalides was outstanding. I was originally referred to him by Doctor Maja Svrakic for a case of Pulsatory Tinnitus, and Doctor Patsalides went above and beyond in investigating the source of my issue, finding an otherwise unknown condition that could have been devastating for my health. He was able to identify a serious unruptured brain aneurysm located behind my left eye, and immediately proceeded to fix it before it could burst. This is especially impressive, as aneurysms are usually not identified until they rupture. At every step of the way, Doctor Patsalides took the time to explain complex medical issues in a way that I could understand, and I felt very comfortable talking to him. Moreover, he demonstrated a keen sense of humanity that made me feel supported amidst a complicated medical scenario. I highly recommend Doctor Patsalides, as his intervention had a very positive impact in my health.

I had the obligatory MRIs before seeing Dr Palisades and after the 5 minute “session” with him I left none the wiser. He was abrupt and kept reiterating he was a neurosurgeon and therefor could not help me as I was not a good candidate for kyphoplasty and that is all he does. The reason for my visit was an acute compressed fracture of a vertebrae that had been discovered by an X-ray. Fair enough he couldn’t help, but I would have liked an explanation of why (was it because of the condition of my spine or because other health issues?) He did not go over the MRI results at all. The MRIs showed spinal problems other than the compressed fracture, and after he abruptly left the room I saw him in the hallway and asked about these. His answer was that he was a neurosurgeon and I should go elsewhere. He didn’t say where. A most unpleasant experience. I note that another dissatisfied patient has posted here that Dr Patsalides has not wanted to treat him anymore after he… expressed dissatisfaction. In my case I was told my the manager that he didn’t want to see me anymore after I complained. He practices out of Weill Cornell and I am surprised as most of the doctors I have seen there are excellent, both technically, and in their compassion and dedication.

My experience has been horrible. It's been one month since my kyphoplasty with Dr. Athos Patsalides and I am recovering poorly. Even walking is very difficult. I was very athletic and sports-minded all my life and if I'd been told I'd have to give that all up I would never have done this "Procedure". Dr. Patsalides have been totally non-communicative with me. My only follow-up appointment with him was an insulting disaster; he kept me waiting for an hour and a half and then told me he had no time to talk to me at all and said a different doctor would be in charge of me from now on.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Patsalides and his Physician’s Assistant. Dr. Patsalides clearly cares about his patients. He makes difficult topics easier to understand and does not hesitate to listen to every question. He is indeed, a standout.

I had 4 kyphoplasty surgeries so far, the last 3 successfully performed by Dr. Patsalides. After each one I returned back to normal and to work in a few days while I was walking on the same day. You can trust him and his team. I did so--my best choices.

I have dealt with a lot of doctors in my life and Dr. Patsalides stands out. He is an outstanding doctor, he knows his field and he is a true expert at what he does. He truly cares about his patients, he has wonderful beside manners, he is compassionate and goes out of his way to help his patients. Not only he is a fantastic doctor, he is also an amazing human being, a combination that is a rare find these days. I wish there were more doctors as outstanding as he is. Dr. Patsalides is one of a kind, a true gem. If you ever need the true top doctor in his specialty of interventional radiology, dr. Patsalides is the best of the best.
