Dr. Audrey Anita Romero, MD

I have never experienced a doctor like her. She was completely dismissive to my symptoms and extremely rude. I’ve been seeing Dr. Rubino for years, really like him but will never see this lady again, sad she is in his practice. I left hysterically crying bc couldn’t believe how dismissive she was. It was just an awful experience.

Wonderful doctor who is intelligent and caring. I saw her due to my heavy periods and fibroids. She never pressured me to have surgery and gave me all of my options for managing my problems. I initially tried the conservative options and had no resolution of my issues. I ultimately had a hysterectomy and it was the best thing I could have done. She guided me in the decision process and worked with me with the conservative options first. She listened to my issues and answered al of my questions. I will definitely return for my yearly check ups and will highly recommend to all of my family and friends.

This is what I have experienced with Dr. Romero in the Rubino group. I am applalled by this behavior and will be sure to notify women and the industry of this despicable behavior. please have her removed or evaluated. I made an appoint for her due to my sudden heavy bleeding and very painful periods. The first experience was with Christine who performed the sonogram. As I lay there, she said "oh, you have fibroids" as she showed them to me on the screen. I didn't know what they were at the time and just thought oh no! what is that??!! She then proceeded to tell me you can have them removed with a hysterectomy. What? !! No... there has to be another way. She continued..."I don't understand why women have such a hard time with just removing EVERYTHING, what is the point?? Especially if you don't plan on having children. wow, I thought to myself, how can she say that?! I just lay there in confusion and couldn't wait to speak to the doctor. Well, much to my surprise....the doctor… was on the same level. So as I sat in her office, she confirmed I had fibroids and looked at me dead in the face and just stopped speaking. Okaaaaay, so what does that mean?..., what can be done? Open your mouth Please!! She very quickly threw at me two procedures, vaguely explaining them to me. Then came the 3rd bombshell. The best procedure is a Hysterectomy, your too old (42 at the time) to have any children and even if you do, no doctor will even look at you." Wow, I just started crying... and couldn't believe what was happening. She stood over by the sink area looking at me with her arms crossed with a blank expression on her face. I literally had to ask for a tissue. She handed me the tissue, and again just stared at me. I then stopped crying and said, I think I am going to have a second opinion, she said "why, these are the only options." I quickly got dressed and left and never looked back. She never followed up with me or called to see how I was feeling (like other gynos do, I also had a palup removed that day, which brought on bleeding and severe pain in my abdomen, but did not proceed to call about that either. As I continue to do more research, I am finding that doctors perform hysterectomies on women because not only is there a lot of blood involved but they make a lot more money than the new and improved procedures that are out today that actually keep your uterus in tack.

I went to Dr Romero for my annual check up. She asked good questions and carefully explained what she was doing during the exam. I found her easy to talk to and she seemed knowledgeable and pleasant. I do not like "paternalistic" doctors and she wasn't one. Recommend.
