Dr. Audrey Rose Talley Rostov, MD

Went to see Dr Talley-Rostov with a ulcer on my cornea. I ALWAYS felt I was getting the best of care. She even met me at her office on a Sunday to examine my progress. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!

I had a cataract surgery with vision correction. While I was told that I "couldn't have both" ( excellent distance and excellent near vision) I was not told that the better distance vision would worsen my near vision to the degree that the food I eat is blurry, my own face in the mirror is impossible to put on make-up (hard to put on mascara when wearing glasses) and shopping is a nightmare of off again/on again with the "readers". Second, the doctor who checked my eyes the day after surgery was shocked that Dr. Rostov was going to do the exact same surgery on my other eye, leaving me basically unable to see the dashboard of my car, although I would be able to see well outside the car. He absolutely advised NOT pursuing her plan. Finally, I was not prepared for the peripheral blurriness of vision after the surgery, which still is very bothersome, and which - after my second visit for a check-up - I was told is a "universal" post-surgery experience and most people were adjusted to it… in 6-12 months!! She was not a bit apologetic or comforting about the things I was experiencing.... Just matter of fact and slightly defensive. I think she had forgotten how scary it is to lose part of your vision, and she was totally uninterested in helping me.

I could write a book about how horrible this woman was. For starters, Dr. Rostov accidentally placed the speculum on my eyeball, causing great pain. ("Oops, sorry", is not something you want to hear your surgeon say). Their "assembly line" literally had her staff moving me out of the OR while my original lens dissolved so she could jump to one or two others as I lied there waiting for her return. I noticed horrible flickering beginning the day after surgery. She sends her patients to another, less qualified doc for the post-op visits and he just kept saying to wait and give it more time to heal. I finally wrote to her begging that she see me because the flickering was awful, stressful, causing anxiety, nausea, etc. I explained it was like a strobe light in my peripheral vision. When she did finally see me, she showed absolutely no compassion whatsoever. In fact, she insisted that I acknowledge that my visual acuity was now so much better. I replied that I would love to celebrate with… her, but the flickering was so horrible I now just wanted to keep my eye closed or avoid all light. She was disdainful and arrogant and by the time I left I felt bullied and basically in shock over the way I was treated--as if this was somehow my fault!? I went to one more follow up with her (and was made to wait several hours even though I had an appointment), after which I swore I would never again return to that woman. I still can't get over it. She recommended the Crystalens as the only choice if I wanted to be able to see both close up and far away. Even though it was way more expensive, I followed her advice and got the Crystalens but I was never able to see closeup after the Crystalens was implanted. Rather, my reading vision was worse and when I explained that to her she angrily said she'd Told me it would get better over time! Well more than 6 months later it was no better and other doctors told me it would not improve, contrary to what she had said. Flickering never went away either.

My daughter had Cataracts In both eyes . Her vision is so much better it's hard to believe . The doctor is very good with children and with the parents.

She is a corneal specialist. The hospital-clinic is huge and lavishly appointed. The staff were somewhat indifferent at best. I had cataracts both eyes, wanted one fixed. Dr. Talley really wanted to do BOTH AT ONCE, a risky and stupid thing even to suggest, which would have left me in dire straits for weeks. She grumbled a bit, said she would correct my nearsightedness to 20/20. I said No, thankyou, please leave it at 20/300 so I can do my carpentry and electrical work closeup, and so it will Match the other eye, very important to me. She grumbled but agreed. At start of surgery she turned on loud African Bongo music, so loud any communication was difficult, then she complained about how hard it was to blast away the cataract (old lens) with her tool. Well, I got a new lens, it took many weeks for eye to settle down and the clinic, once they get rid of you after surgery, could not care LESS about you afterward. I did not allow this clinic to make me new glasses. … All said and done, this was standard boiler-plate cataract removal, she did it correctly, but she has an attitude problem big time.

Have been seeing this doctor for several years now and have become increasingly dissatisfied. When I go in for an appointment I feel like I am on an assembly line and the goal for the day is to see how many patients can be processed through their system. Last time I was in I told her about a problem I was having with my eye and felt she didn't even process it. When this doctor has not been available I have seen one of her associates a couple of times and have felt that he doesn't have a clue. Would not recommend.

It was tolerable until she stated yelling at me. Kept changing her mind and when things went wrong it was my fault and didnt seem to know what to do

I am lucky I can even see out of my eye because of her and her staffs carelessness. Sending a patient home with an emergency condition that could cause them to go blind is unacceptable.I feel like suing this rude , unprofessional doctor and her money making clinic.She also performed too many surgeries on my eye because she kept screwing it up. it has ruined my quality of life.

This "doctor" butchered my eye in what was supposed to be a routine lens implant. When the lens didn't fit I had 4 consecutive surgeries over 4 weeks to correct it which I later learned from a decent doctor was way WAY too many surgeries to have without giving my eye proper recovery time. It led to a retinal endema and other complications that sat undiagnosed in one of my followups by another doctor (she offloads most of her post op visits) at this clinic even though I tried to voice concern about rapidly losing my vision. They sent me home and only figured it out two weeks later on my scheduled revisit. It wasn't enough to save my cornea or my vision despite the best attempts of decent doctors to do so. Today I am blind out of that eye. My experience with Dr Rostov was a nightmare. My impression of her is that she's very money driven and couldn't be bothered by her patient's concerns. Every botched surgery I still had to pay for because, in her words, her time is money. She's… also making up stories to her insurer how I didn't follow postop instructions because I rubbed my eyes which I NEVER do. The story is even more ludicrous seeing as to how I rarely ever saw her post-op as she offloaded her post-op visits to other optometrists at her clinic. I'd recommend going to someone who actually spends time and cares about their patients like the salaried professionals at UW medical instead of a sweatshop like hers where each patient has a dollar sign affixed in her eyes.

On time, answered my questions and the cataract surgery was a success. I spent the money on the Crystalens and am extremely happy. On the surgery days everything went promptly and like clockwork. Her staff is very competent and friendly. I like the their mostly paperless system and the thoroughness of note taking. When a doctor is in the room, an assistant is entering almost the entire dialog into you file. They also give you online access to your records.
