Dr. Avner Hershlag, MD

My wife and I went to Dr Hershlag bcs we had some issues .. after the 1st consultant we became a patients .. as soon as we got there we were stopped at the front door and were discussed about how are we planning to pay for all this .. made us feel so awful bcs he had a manu of 1 /2/3 times and it was apx 35-55,000 which we did not have .. after putting it all on out Cc and borrowed so much we paid it all .. and started going to the Dr on repeat visits .. every time we went we were stopped at the front office to make sure again and again .. to make sure we fully paid .. also every time my wife asked more than one question .. the Dr Hershlag answer rudely what do you know I know best and my wife left crying .. than we were pushed in buying meds from the place they were connected to and my wife Meda cost 17,000 to make a long story short after weeks of pain and shots the process failed .. the following week we were call to discuss options and the dr said we need a diner eggs or sperm… otherwise we will not have any kids .. after crying for days and no choices we thought the Dr is the best and we almost agreed but we had no more money or any ways to get to more money so we could not continue .. luck had it that my wife joined some group of moms who had difficulty as well and we found this amazing place upstate NY .. we drove the next week and this place was so calm and beautiful .. they ask us to pay a small amount of money and said we can pay in installment however we can .. every meeting was beautiful and calm.. to make this super long story short we now have 3 beautiful kids which are beautiful healthy and ours from my sperm and my wife eggs .. please please do not go to this Dr Hershlag he is awful

If you want your own biological child,stay away from this joke,they will soon only become an donor egg facility soon.

As a patient, I expected to get the best care, especially suffering from fertility problems. I highly recommend to go to another clinic, find a Dr that actually wants to help you conceive. I just turned 40. After a painful HSG procedure that was done by a Resident and NOT a Dr, Hershlag never even recommended a second HSG procedure, nor even bothered to look at the images. There are ways to repair damaged fallopian tubes depending on WHERE they are damaged. He never even bothered to check, recommended ONLY IVF which was not covered by my insurance. There are plenty of other Fertility clinics in LI and NYC, where you will get better attention, and the feeling that you are a patient, not a #. Good luck.

This office and Dr Hershlag only care about money and not the paiant at all .. my wife and I had some issues with having kids and we are treated awful and like a business .. we paid over 50k and every time we went there it was like we were being punished and told we don’t know anything and do not ask anything because we know best .. after we failed all we got is ohh let see about finer egg and diner sperm and it will be another 50 k please pay upfront .. My wife had it and we found a beautiful and calm place upstate NY which cost us 1/3 of Hershlag fees .. And now we are proud to have 3 beautiful kids with my wife’s eggs and my sperm .. please do not go there And please complain to NorthShore hospital

This Dr.is shold be locked up,he purposely messes up iui's and ivf's I really think the FBI should look into this establishment,he is a con artist and a criminal,and so is the whole staff, go at your own risk...but you have been warned...

I am not one to write reviews but when praise is deserved, praise should be given. Love love Love Dr. Hershlag. Him, his nurse, and whole staff where more than kind and personable. This was my 3rd fertility clinic and only place i been that i did not feel i was just another statistic. Dr. Hershlag and his nurse, Jenny, went above and beyond to personally assure the most optimal outcome for my husband and i. This was our 5th and last round of ivf (first with dr hershlag and his office), and the care and attention i felt from the first visit is unmeasurable. From our first visit with dr hershlag I immediately felt comfortable and can tell he was a straight shooter and felt confident even though based on our fertility history, he gave us a 60% chance of conceiving. I now lay here looking at my 6 month old twins peacefully sleeping and am forever grateful for dr hershlag and his staff! dr hershlag Is a brilliant, genuinely csring man that made the infertility journey a little… better with a hug each visit and a personal phone call when i finally got that positive we’ve been waiting so long for. I just can not express enough what a wonderful experience i had with dr hershlag and his office and highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for honesty.

I don't even know where to begin with this Dr.,but please do yourself a favor and run as far as you can!Hear me now,believe me later..you'll be very thankful!

Not sure why all the negative reviews. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Hershlag. Yea, you may have to wait and it's hard to get an appointment with him BUT that should tell you something. This man was kind and compassionate to my issues. I got pregnant through IUI and it turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. Dr. Cohen (also in the practice) performed my surgery. Dr. Hershlag called me at home the day after to check on me. My husband and I then went to see him a few days later and he was so compassionate and sympathetic. We will now be starting IVF in a couple of months and I have full faith in Dr. Hershlag. He is intelligent and one of the best.

My husband and I love Dr. Hershlag! We could not have had a better Doctor to put our faith in to help us start a family. He is warm, listens and genuinely cares. Dr. Hershlag made us feel at ease right from the start. He spent a lot of time with us discussing treatments and our options. What a great experience we had with him as well as his entire staff at Northwell Fertility.

I would not recommend this doctor. Who cares if he's Natalie Portman's father, as someone stated he's a jerk!!! He has no bedside manner. When you see him for an appointment he jumps right away to IVF. I felt very pressured into getting an egg donor, and he all he talks about is his PGD testing. All he cares about is the $$$ he has no compassion for my feelings and I'm sure he would not want his daughter treated the way he treats his patients. If your not choosing IVF or doing some of his expensive testing he is pretty much done with the appointment. I'm finding another doctor with some compassion. I DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!!
