Dr. Azmina A Patel, DO

My best friend of 60 years just died of Stage 4 lymphoma. She passed away at the end May. She wasn’t diagnosed until about 2-3 weeks before she died, and then, it wasn’t Dr. Patel who diagnosed her. My friend began seeing Dr. Patel in December, following a hospitalization in November. A CT showed she had a tumor on each adrenal gland. Without performing a biopsy, Dr. Patel told her she did NOT have cancer because “cancer doesn’t grow like twins.” My friend was misdiagnosed and told she had Addison’s Disease. Over the course of the spring, my friend got sicker and sicker. There were multiple trips to the ER. Eventually, Dr. Patel did a biopsy on one of the adrenal tumors. Then, she waited and waited. After 3.5 weeks, when my friend still had no results, she had to be transported to TMC via an ambulance. She never went home. While in TMC, she finally received a diagnosis of Stage 4 lymphoma. Cancer was in her liver, kidneys, adrenal glands, to name a few of the places. She was… transferred to a larger hospital in Dallas, where she died. We are devastated.
