Dr. Balvinder S Kang, MD

I am a long standing patient. He has seen me at my worst and best. Actually, I wouldn't be at my best if it weren't for him. I had a complete meltdown moving back to Buffalo and was referred to Dr. Kang. Shortly after my first month with him, I called in dire need of help and a hospital stay. From day one the staff and the Doctor were more than kind. During those first painful years, if I called, they always answer during business hours and if things are truly bad? They put you on hold for the Doctor. If after hours? He is very quick to return your call. I may not be fond of his on call choice when he leaves for conferences or vacations, but I am very fond of this office. It is true he listens to you intently, but where and when there is a need he WILL speak to you and guide you. Perhaps you need to allow yourself a bond with the man. You are not the only one dropping negativity on him. From the hospital he works in the AM to office in the later AM and PM, he listens, offers his views… and writes. And he is very up to speed on scripts. As we should be.

I started going to Dr. Kang about 2 years ago and at that time I was emotionally stable, and had my conditions under control. Every time I would see him he would always write down the wrong number of times per day I was taking my medication. I would correct him but gave up after a while. A little while ago my panic attacks started up again. I tried calling his office twice (on a sat. and sun) and stated that it was an emergency because my medication was no longer helping. His secretary finally got back to me on monday. But it was too late by then I had already gone to ECMC for help. I would NOT recommend him , he doesn't seem very concerned with his patients.

I have been going to Dr. Kang for 8 years. I originally saw him after I was in the MACC center, then my primary for a severe panic attack. He was very approachable. I had a pretty bad issues happen to me over the last 8 years and when I needed to talk or get in touch with the Doctor after hours, he called me back right away. If there was a problem during office hours, I was put on hold and the Doctor was quick to answer my call. When hospitalized, I was reassured that I wasn't going to be in there forever. If I had an issue with a medication, I was taken off of it. I was never pushed to do something. The office staff has come to know me and they are wonderful. The Doctor has become busy of late and making an appointment is still easy, but sometimes he may be double booked. However, if he were still taking new, walk-in patients? I would not hesitate to recommended Dr.Kang.

I came to this doctor with Generalized Anxiety Disorder diagnosis from St.Joseph hospital where I was told I was having a panic attack. I didn't know much about it prior to that. Dr.Kang is good with prescription refills, if you need any, but other than that he doesn't speak much and makes you do all the talk. I don't mind talking to a doctor, but I expect my doctor to talk back and inform me more about any other methods or different approach to the problem. Due to my constant anxiety I get extremely fatique, but yet neither of my doctors told me that I might need my vitamins or minerals checked in my body. So, I bought B12 (sublingual) after a careful online research, and after taking it on a daily basis noticed that I'm starting to get my strength back, - good energy that doesn't provoke anxiety, like from caffeine. I like natural approach to everything, and don't like to rely solely on chemical medicines, and in the future would like to find a doctor who can think outside the box,… instead of just giving Alprazolam and letting people getting addicted to it! P.S. Another problem, - is a problem with scheduling the appointment with this doctor, They don't answer the calls, and you have to wait till they call you back. It's not very convenient, considering if they call you back when you're not home, then you have to call back again, to schedule the appointment. I always had this problem with them, and a few times my husband had to personally drive there to schedule it for me. I think, I like doctor's office that always responds to calls during the working hours, especially doctors who deal with patients with nervous disorders!

I was a patient of his for 2 years, went into an anxiety/depression after moving from sunny Florida to dark, cold Buffalo for a 3 year gig. If it is an emergency he will accomodate you and has a very gentle affect. He is extremely knowlegable in his profession, and he doesn't push meds that he gets "kick-backs" from pharmaceutical companies unless they truly work for a patient. Many doctors push the expensive, name brand meds when another med that comes in a generic works just fine. One office worker is not very personable and maybe borderline rude, but the others are great and approachable. The psychologist that works in his office, is a very nice lady, but I didn't feel she was helpful with my issues. Overall, though, I would recommend Dr. Kang.
