Dr. Banita Banu Sehgal, DO

Dr. Banita Sehgal is knowledgeable, extremely thorough and a great listener. She has a proactive approach, and I simply "adore" her work ethics and her kind and loving nature. She has been my doc for over ten years, and will remain with her as long as she continues practicing here in SD! My daughter now see's her as well. I highly recommend her.

She just keeps trying different things until something works! If I have an urgent need she checks her email and either has me come in or go to urgent care. It takes a long time to get in unless it is time sensitive. Working through email has been so much easier for me. She explains anything I ask about. She and her staff are very nice and compassionate. I have been seeing her for several years now and will continue for years to come.

Frindly and tells it like it is.

Although very nice, I don't think I will be going back to Dr. Kooner anymore other than for girly exams. For that, she was great. For anything else... Not so great. Like a few others have said, I have found she has an answer to your question before you finish asking. She makes assumptions, without asking proper questions and without actually listening to why you are trying to tell her. I have had two appointments with her, one this year and one last year. I have had the same complain for over a year now, and all I get for an answer is "ohh you need to sleep better! Make sure you're getting enough sleep! All women are tired, we are all a lot busier now a days than back then." I am telling you there is something WRONG with me. You do one test and say nope, that's not it... Then have your NURSE call me to tell me that. Then the end. I feel like a good dr. Would say, "this isn't what's going on, so lets take the next step in figuring this out." Not her. I sleep great, but you can't tell… her that. Also, last year I was on a medication (that you aren't supposed to just stop taking cold turkey) and I called her because I didn't think I needed it anymore. Her nurse informed me it would be a few months until I could see her. I ended up just stopping myself. Was also but by a cat, and she said just to go to urgent care. Not very accommodating on appointment scheduling either. I need a new dr.

I haven't needed to go to many doctors, which makes this experience even better. I loved the way she discussed how to eat healthy, take vitamins, and exercise. I didn't know your doctor would talk about this stuff! She also did a pelvic exam on me even though I was a new patient. I have referred several of my friends to her, and am glad she told me about the email system that she can write back to be anytime. (By the way, even though I wasn't seen until almost 30 minutes after my appointment (even got there early!), she explained how she has "all the time in the world for me" and that's why she runs behind. Great experience!
