Dr. Barbara Jane Deal, MD

My daughter Emily was born on May 12th, 2001 and born with SVT. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Deal for the thorough, personal and very friendly care she gave to our daughter along with our family. Thanks in large part to her & her staff, our daughter Emily is currently a 19 year old Sophomore in college with a very healthy, happy future ahead of her. There is mistaking that type of care. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

After 6 years of trying to get a diagnosis I went to her in hopes for her or someone to help save my life. Instead she put me on a Gatorade diet which made me put on 20lbs I cannot get rid off since it was all sugar. She yelled at my mom. And she implied I was faking having my heart stop. She's by far the worse doctor I've ever seen, and I've been everywhere across the country.

I was referred to her after a diagnosis of POTS. She did not even spend 5 minutes with me before denying that I had POTS & deciding that I was malnourished & had an eating disorder, based on nothing other than a growth chart. Hospital staff confidently ruled this out. I've seen over 12 specialists in the past 3 years, all have done extensive blood work. I have since then gotten a second opinion & confirmation of the POTS. She refuses to see me again. Dr. Deal is a know it all doctor who cannot accept being wrong.

I've been going to dr.deal for years I love her she is such a fantastic doctor. She has your best interest at mind.

At my last appointment with Dr. Deal, my mother and I waited for her for 3.5 hours. When she finally graced us with her presence, she offered no explanation as to why she was so late nor did she apologize. And, to add insult to injury, she was only with us for 15 minutes. That was our last appointment with her and we will be seeking treatment elsewhere. I had been seeing her for 6 years. In all of those years, she has not helped me make any progress with my condition. I believe that the only reason we stayed with her so long is that my mother was grateful that I was finally diagnosed and we had a name for the terrifying things going on in my poor little 14 year old body, and that we weren't having to go to Southern California for treatment. We should have dumped Dr. Deal long ago. Maybe if we had, I wouldn't be a 20 year old filing for disability.

Horrible. Unprofessional. Misdiagnosis.

After I had been experiencing seizures for over four years, she acted like it was no big deal and told me I had postural orthoscopic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) without even explaining what it was. She made me tell everything to her nurse and didn't want to even hear my story. I mean isn't a doctor supposed to listen to the patient's symptoms from the patient instead of walking in giving a diagnosis and then leaving? The only reason she gave for how I had gotten POTS was I had gotten it from my ancestors in Ireland. She was not warm and fuzzy at all! She also acted like she was more superior than me and I was more like a piece of dirt. I would definitely not recommended her to other patients! I suggest going somewhere else!

I cannot imagine people like Dr Deal are still allowed to practice in this day and age with thier racist comments, esp in city like Chicago. I will never take my child here again!

Worst bedside manner ever. Most uncompassionate physician, cold hearted and rude. Wodnt want her near my child!

Had plenty enough trouble with the color conscious doc that I never want to take my kid back!
