Dr. Barbara Anne Spinelli, MD

The absolute worst. Showed her the rash on my neck and shoulder and she said he didn't see anything. Showed her pictures I had taken days previously and she said 'that was a terrible photographer' (said this 3 times). Said she did not see anything on the pictures. All my friends and family were concerned because of the severity of the rash. They suggested I go to urgent care. She acted like she was afraid to get close to me. Finally admitted there was a problem, but didn't have a clue what it might be. Told me 'if that is a reaction to the vaccination, then if you get covid19 you're going to die!'. Told me this 3 times! Left feeling like I had been terrorized, assaulted. She made a referral to another doctor and left the room without any parting salutation. Just exited the room. Very unprofessional. This is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. Left feeling that she did not know what she was doing. Had to google her to make sure she Was indeed a doctor. I will never… go back there again.

I could write a whole essay on the things this provider had said and done to me in the 5 years I have been a (unlucky) patient of her. I finally said enough was enough after she insulted me multiple times after presenting an array of health problems/symptoms which I’ve been dealing with for over a year due to her not providing any treatment options addressing them. She lacks empathy, is condescending, disrespectful, and I would be surprised if she doesn’t already have a lawsuit going for malpractices. I have never met a provider who could make their patients feel worse for coming to see her then just staying home and sucking up the symptoms. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT book with this provider. Just because she had an “overall” good rating does not mean she is a caring provider who will actually value you as a patient. She could care less. I’m surprised people like her are even allowed to practice medicine. It’s very sad.

Glib and condescending

My husband went in with shoulder pain and the first thing out of her mouth was “your posture sucks.” She prescribed anti inflammatory topical which he told her he could not use due to bariatric surgery and on instruction from the surgeon who performed the bypass surgery. Her response was “are you going to eat it?” Snarky to say the least. She told him to ice it and sent him on his way. He was still in terrible pain so went to his regular doctor who ordered an MRI. MRI showed a torn rotator cuff and tendon. She didn’t bother to look into cause of his pain and was rude and condescending. Certainly not the quality of doctor one expects from Sutter.

She ruined by life.

After discussing the life changes I have made to accommodate chronic headaches caused by severe stenosis and how unhappy I am to not be active or participate in family activities, she commented to me that perhaps I should not be doing those activities. As she sat reading the MRI report stating I have severe stenosis she stated it is not that bad. I have had nerve ablations and tried anything any doctor has recommended. I want to return to some semblance of a normal active life. Those activities I can no longer participate in are normal family dinners or having my granddaughter for an afternoon. My take away message was to isolate myself from family and reduce physical activity to avoid headaches. Then told me she considered me to be in good health. I had checked the box stating I considered myself to be in poor health because I have daily headaches and have to limit activities that involve moving my arms. I felt as though I was invisible to her.

I have been seeing Dr. Spinelli for more than 10 years. She takes the time to hear what my concerns are. Some people don't like when their doctors run behind, but the reason she runs behind is because she's really caring and takes the time to address the issues. I have no complaints and will continue to see her.
