Dr. Barbara S Spivak, MD

Worst Dr ever. Was never a fan of her bedside manner. Years ago, she missed a life threatening diagnosis. I ended up in emergency surgery at the hospital where she practiced. A nurse there told me to get another doctor! I did. Don’t walk away - run.

Barbara told me there is “no alternative to OTC vitamin D”. My rheumatologist prescribed it to me when she heard my story. I take another medication I must see Barbara or her NP for monthly. We have a legally binding contract outlining both of our rights & responsibilities while I take this medication. Barbara has now left me without medication, ending up in the ER in medical withdrawal. Each time I confront Barbara and her staff about this issue, they state that the contract only protects Barbara, and that the rest is meaningless. They schedule me for same day appts without consent and then tell me I’m in “violation” when I am unable to come for legitimate reasons, like work (I am a single mother). Her bedside manner is lacking, I cannot trust her, and she believes that harming her pts is the way to go. Her office never coordinates referrals, they have never had a doctor to recommend in almost any category of specialist I’ve needed to see, and they don’t even try to pretend they do… case management. Run to another doctor if you need true medical care.

Dr Spivak has been my PCP for 38 years. She has been a loving, supportive, smart and kind health care provider. She is available when it is important and her annual exams are thorough and thoughtful. She’s a great doctor.

Dr. Spivak is OK if you can get in to see her. Very difficult to get an appt. The whole office/appt./phone experiences are AWFUL. They have not had enough help for years. Sorry, but you can only blame the new computer system for your incompetence for so long. It's been years and still no one has it together. Wait times on hold are ridiculous. Find a different Dr. office.

Awful, awful doctor. She is never on time, she doesn't know anything, half of the time she's just looking up the ceiling and pretends to listen. Doesn't get back to you until you call everyday and she doesn't even speak to you directly, she puts a nurse on the line who is as dumb as she is and doesn't know what to do. Aren't you the Doctor? Why are you asking me what to do?

spivak has been my pcp for years. i recently called up to find out what I should do about a medical issue. I was in complete discomfort, and I let the receptionist know this. She took my information AND THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. She is really concerned about her clients well being huh??? So unprofessional. Needless to say I will finding a new doctor.

Dr. Spivak is extremely caring. She doesn't always come across that way. But her care is in her actions. She is extremely smart and knows her stuff. She treats me as a strict mother would treat me: stern but very caring. She's not a warm and fuzzy woman. She's a no holds barred, tell 'em like it is doctor who makes excellent diagnoses, and cares very much about her patients.
