Barbara Ziogas MDDr. Barbara Ziogas is board certified in Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and served her residency at the University of Connecticut, where she stayed an additional year as Chief Pediatric Resident. Dr. Ziogas began practicing in the Farmington Area in 1995 and has been an involved member of the medical community since then. She is an active member of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and serves on the Executive Board. Before deciding to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a pediatrician, she was a special education teacher. This background has served her well in treating children with special health care needs and educational challenges. She is dedicated to the health and well-being of children and their families, and practices medicine in a way that looks at the whole child in their environment. She is passionate about …pain management and strategies for reduction of discomfort for procedures such as injections. Dr. Ziogas is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and is honored to participate in the medical education of our future health care providers. She serves as the Medical Advisor for the Farmington Public Schools as well as for CREC (Capital Region Education Center). She is the Medical Advisor for the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford. Since 2001 she has traveled many times to Tobati, Paraguay where she has had the good fortune to be able to do mission work in collaboration with Team Tobati. She has forged wonderful and lifelong relationships as a result of these endeavors. Dr. Ziogas is a member of the Gold Humanism in Medicine Society and is honored to have been a recipient of the Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. She has also been awarded the Hartford Hospital Humanitarian award. Dr. Ziogas recently moved from Burlington to Avon. She is the mother is three grown children, three beautiful grandchildren , and four equally beautiful step-grandchildren. Dr. Ziogas enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, reading, attending concerts, nature, doing volunteer work, and above all, advocating for children. We would love to make a difference for you.
