Dr. Barry Alan Bruggers, MD

I have been to many gynecologists and oncologists over the past couple of years and this experience was by far the worst. Dr. Bruggers is extremely cold and unprofessional, I went in for a colposcopy to check on precancerous cervical cells, aside from the fact that he is the first Dr to ever perform a colposcopy with the lights off, he also did not lubricate the clamps, did not wear gloves or check to make sure all proper equipment was ready before inserting the clamps, the assistant had to walk out of the room 4 times to grab proper supplies meanwhile he had already began the procedure causing the procedure to last 4 times longer than normal, he did not explain a thing to me, did not ask any questions before or after the exam, dismissed my questions and spoke to me with his eyes closed as if I was annoying him, was very rude and yelled at me to relax my muscles multiple times which is a little inconsiderate considering I had to lay there for a long time with clamps in me every time… his assistant had to leave the room to go grab proper swabs, he apparently cut my cervix too deep which was extremely painful and caused alot more cramps and bleeding than normal and ran out of the room as quickly as he could when he rudely dismissed any of my questions. Do not go to this dr, it's a little odd doing an exam in the dark, and I wish have read reviews before my appointment because there has been complaints of inappropriate touching thankfully my boyfriend was in the room with me so I didn't have to experience that.

I have lived in many areas and had many physicians. But now I am happy that I found Dr. Bruggers. Although he monotone and to the point, he is a very caring and compasionate man. He takes the time to listen to your questions and throughly explains your situation. He has been with me through pregnancies, and various gyn surgical procedures including ablations and a hysterectomy. He is the only man, other than my husband, that I trust.If you're looking for a man with a winning smile and charm, that's not Dr. Bruggers. But if you're looking for a Doctor who is experienced and knowledgeable in his field, then this is your Doctor.Zoe

Dr. Bruggers and his staff just seemed not to care at all about me as a patient or a person. My first pregnancy, and I was likely miscarrying. He talked more than he listened to my situation. Suddenly, he was going to examine me and I didn't feel that I had enough time to prepare. I asked for my friend to be in the room with me, but he looked doubtful and said if he could find a nurse, he would ask her to get my friend. He wouldn't let me go to the waiting room, and my friend never was told. He was checking me with no-one else in the room but us, which I found odd and uncomfortable, when someone just walked in while I was, er, on the table. She left a minute later, leaving the door to the hall open! I wondered if she was being rude or looking out for my welfare... Anyway, he later decided that I hadn't miscarried, but might, so I could schedule a D&C with him and get it all over with. I was terrified and didn't understand what was happening. Was there a chance to keep the baby? No-one… told me or explained anything. He and the office staff acted like they were bored with my story already. Even in the waiting room I felt like all of us patients were being processed like cattle. Overall, an embarrassing and uncomfortable experience.

If you're looking for a good doctor in this area, keep looking. Dr. Bruggers (or as I call him, Boogers) is about as bad as you can get - terrible follow up, lack of care & concern, lost paperwork, rude staff, etc. etc. I would not recommend him to treat anyone at all.

Dr. Bruggers is one of the worst. He is nasty to his staff in front of patients and seems preoccupied things other than what counts, the patient!

Worst experience I think I'll ever have in my life. He seemed very rushed and started before the nurse had come into the room. He didn't tell me what I was about to go through and I'm young so I've never had a procedure like this before and it wasn't a paps. He kept rushing me and yelling at me to calm down, but I started crying in the middle of the procedure because I didn't understand what he was doing to me. After I stopped crying and he was telling me what I needed I looked at him and he was talking to me with his eyes closed. Really... never go to this doctor.

Office where Dr. Bruggers conducts his consultation with patients before the exam was dirty and extremely cluttered. Dr. Bruggers touched me innapropriately during internal exam. Staff member entered room during internal exam opening door to hall while I was "spread eagle." Needless to say, I left office very shaken. In reference to the rating "spent enough time with me": if there had been the choice to check off wayyyyy too much time spent with me, I would have checked that one!

I went to see him as a new patient last year. He told me he felt some lumps on my ovaries. He sent me for an internal ultrasound and from that he told my I had multiple polyps and said I needed to have a hysteroscopy immediatly. I went in to the hospital had this procedure done.(I was scared to death they way they were making it seem so bad) I woke up after the procedure and he tells me there was nothing there and left with out saying another word.

Terrible bedside manner, didn't maintain eye contact, ignored my concerns even after repeating them four times, voiced himself over me, rushed to talk to me. Do not recommend him or another doctor at this practice. The office personnel is very good, though. Shame on the doctors!

I consider Dr. Bruggers to be my primary care physician. He has cared for me for over 10 years, and is always professional, courteous, and skilled in his diagnosis. He pays attention to your overall health, and has diagnosed problems in the past (outside his area of expertise) simply by being a skilled, observant physician. I can highly recommend him as a competent OB-GYN.
