Dr. Barry Ray Buffman, MD

I have a bleeding disorder and heart problems the er kept me 15 hrs didn't do crap. I went to see dr Huffman and I love his bed side manner. Hes a straight shooter and great patient advocate. We need more dr like him.

best overall experience with a doctor I've had in a long time

Saw Dr. Buffman for over 3 months. His office does not accept insurance and chances are you WON'T be reimbursed by your insurance carrier, so be aware before go. Dr. tells you one thing and the wife (his receptionist) disregards what he tells you and does what she wants.They say they will assist with your being reimbursed by your insurance company if there are problems, but when it comes right down to it, Deborah (doctor's wife) does not want to take the time to help. When insurance company sent the doctor's office a form to complete requesting further information she/they ignored the request until I pressed the issue. After that Deborah's attitude completely changed. She refused to mail me a copy of the completed form (guess the stamp cost too much). They are very friendly as long as they are collecting your money, but the second you need their help and it requires them to do something extra, the attitude changes. When I arrived at the office to pick up the form she refused to… mail, her attitude was nasty and disrespectful towards me, all because I requested they complete the form and mail it to me. She certainly does not help the doctor's business. If she were anyone other than his wife, I'm certain she would have been fired by now.

I went in to my urgent care in Lancaster with a UTI. I thought I would get my usual prescription for Cipro and just leave. Much to my surprise, I saw Dr. Buffman who actually asked me questions, which other PA's and doctors have never done up here in the Antelope Valley! Dr. Buffman took the time to look over my lab work done recently and really cared about me as an individual! He explained things to me and told me about his background. What a stroke of luck that I had to go to my urgent care on the day Dr. Buffman was there! I will be following up with him at his office in Valencia! I highly recommend him to anyone who cares about their health and well being!

I never had a chance to see Dr Buffman, which is unfortunate as he probably could have helped my son. The wife, who is not a nice person, is his receptionist, so not having to deal with her ever again makes me not seeing the doctor worthwhile. I feel sorry for him that he’s married to her. To begin with, when I called the doctor to schedule the appointment to help my son get on an alternative antidepressant, she thought her opinion of me putting my 15 year old son on CBD meant anything to me. I was calling to schedule an appointment with a doctor and this broad is telling me she doesn’t think I should put him on CBD that I should put him on regular anti depressants. After a 5 min conversation of explaining what my son has been through, finally she lets me schedule the appointment and asks me to bring in his diagnosis. I told her I could email it to her and she said that wouldn’t be necessary. When I came to the appointment I had forgotten to printout the diagnosis and I asked… her if I could email it to her and have her print it. She asked me how many pages, and I said, 24. She says, “Oh no, we’re not printout our 24 pages, he’ll just have to read it.” So I said, how would you like for him to read it? Would you like for me to email it to you so he can read it from the computer or do you want him to just read it from my phone? With an attitude, she says you can email it to me, but now he’s going to have to take time out of your appointment to read it. I said if it’s the cost of the paper I could pay for it. She says we charge $15 to print. I said $15 for 24 pieces of paper? She said, yeah, that’s what we charge. I said can I speak to the doctor about that and she says, I’m the office manager and his wife and that’s what we charge. I said ok, well then I’ll just email it and he can read it that way. She again says now he’s going to take time away from your appointment to read it. So I say, correct me if I’m wrong, but whether he prints it out or not, won’t he have to read it? I mean isn’t that a given either way? She continues with her attitude and I say, is it normal for you to treat patients this way because your the doctors wife and you can get away with it? She says no, but she thinks I’m rude. Then tells me “they” don’t want us as a patient. I said perhaps I can see the doctor and he can decide that and she says, no we don’t want you as a patient. Never in all my life have I been treated that way in a doctors office by anyone, let alone the wife of the doctor.

I want to say that I saw Dr. Buffman in consultation this week at his private office in Valencia. His communication skills and fund of knowledge was more than I am used to. Unlike any other reviews I read I found his staff helpful, courteous and informed. He solved my hormonal issues and placed me on the right health track. I would recommend him in a heart beat !

Dr. Buffman was oddly distracted during our conversations, reciting answers while staring out the window, never making direct eye-contact.Staff was similarly mechanical and impersonal.

Dr. Buffman was great in solving my ED situation. I will always be grateful.
