Be careful bad doctor and even worse surgeon. Guess that's why he left John's Hopkins.

Should not even be allowed to practice medicine after what he did to me! His nurses know it also!!

I met with Dr. Safar following a colonoscopy which revealed a malignant tumor. I had previously interviewed another surgeon with an affiliation at different hospital; no doubt, Dr. Safar was the best choice. He clearly explained options, concerns and what I could expect prior to, and after, surgery. He listened to me and fully answered my questions, all while putting me at ease with his wonderful, caring demeanor. He and his team worked with me to make the entire process as easy as possible. The actual surgery time was less than anticipated and the outcome could not have been better. I was amazed how well I felt within 24-48 hours. I was pretty much pain free from beginning to end. During a follow up visit I told him I have had worse times with a dental procedure; that was the truth. I highly, and confidently, recommend Dr. Safar.

Dr. Safar is an experienced, efficient doctor who cares deeply about his patients. If you bring a long list of questions, he will sit with you as long as it takes to answer every single one of them. He is funny and an incredibly calming presence when you're nervous about surgery. He is a superb surgeon-my experience with him has made me so appreciative of doctors.

Dr. Safar is a kind, caring, knowledgeable physician. He spends quality time with you, explains all to you and then carries through. He is obviously respected by those working with him including nurses and interns as well as those on a level of expertise. I found him to be available for questions and if you have colon or rectal cancer this man will be the instrument used to lead you to healing. I’m so grateful to Hopkins for having him on board. I was terrified and he put my mind to rest. Thank you Dr. Safar for being available to give me hope and for removing the cancer.

After colorectal cancer I developed a fistula. Went through several procedures in Fairfax to try and heal this fistula that was on some level worse than the cancer. My husband and I did some research and found Dr. Safar. From the get go, he was ready to help. I had several complications, but he was very caring and had the best bedside manner. When I was discharged, he called my home several times to check on me. I highly recommend him and would drive the 85 mile one way to see him if I had any colon issues again. He made a terrible situation for me as bearable as possible.

Does not communicate with patients. Overbooks them so only spends 5-10 minutes with a patient. Prescribes meds that don't help. Go to a doc that will dedicate time to making you feel better.

Bad bad bad doctor! Be very careful and anything he reccomend get second opinion.

Do not trust him. Get a second opinion

Very incompetent!! Would not recommend!!
