Dr. Basimah Khulusi, MD

Very rude and condescending, she spent more time accusing me than treating me. If at all possible see someone else for your injury care.

This is one of the worst Doctor experiences I have ever had. She was rude and would not allow my wife to join in the consultation about my pain management and she refused to answer questions I had.

If you go to her expecting her to increase or continue your regime on narcotic pain relievers, you are in for a surprise. Rather than keep you doped up, she will reduce your need for narcotics over time, thus allowing your body to recognize the pain and take care of it. She may continue you on low dosage narcotics just to maintain a balance in your body. It depends on how long you have been taking narcotic pain relievers. To me she is one of the best physicians I've ever seen. Instead of sending you away in five minutes with a prescription, she gets to the root of your problem and enlists the help of other specialists to help you.

She is a very good doctor.

I saw Dr. Khulusi 1st visit last wk at the VA hospital for pain mgmt. She focused only on my drug abuse of 40yrs ago despite my not drinking the past 9yrs and not abusing drugs for the past 25yrs. I've been treated for disc disease with unsuccessful surgery and taking narcotics only as prescribed with no abuse for several years. She was interested more in how much time I spent in jail 35yrs ago than my reason for the visit and misquoted my primary physician stating I rode my motorcycle in the rain the day before. She lectured me at length about how "pain is good" and blamed the pain meds for recent fogginess rather than Gabapentin which was recently started, mistating my dosage by half. She seemed intent as labelling me as a drug abuser and ordered percocet DC'd and reduced my methadone to 15mg from 45mg previously and stated I should NEVER be given an increase in pain meds. She was more intent on punishing me than treatment. Her accent is also difficult to understand.

I saw her today and was impressed with her knowledge of my condition. She was very kind and personable. I see her again in a month.
