Great experience

Our primary care physician referred me to Dr. Skudlarska for help with managing care for my father, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia. I don't understand the relatively low ratings for this provider, as my experience was extremely positive. Neither my dad's primary care or neurologist spend as much time with my father and me as Dr. Skudlarska and her staff. I'm told this provider designed this program of care specifically for dementia patients, and it was exactly what I needed as a caregiver. The doctor met individually with my father and with me, and I spent over an hour talking with two social workers while my dad was evaluated. I believe it was important for dad to have one-on-one time with the provider and my impression was the provider has the expertise with dementia to be able to manage any anxiety or apprehension he may have had about the individual assessment he had. It was so helpful for me to be able to discuss care options without judgement. The social workers… and Dr. Skudlarska were professional, clear, and supportive. They helped make a plan of care and we scheduled a three month follow up, with the option to reschedule sooner if needed. One of the social workers gave me her cell phone number if I needed to call with any concerns and gave me permission to call 24/7. I was also very clear about my concerns and needs. I think communication with medical providers is critical with this illness. And these providers helped me articulate my fears and hopes related to my father's care. It has made all the difference in my confidence as a caregiver to know I now have this provider on my care team. I highly recommend.

Nothing memorable. Just long waiting times and rude personal including the doctor. Didn't explain things well either

My mother has been a patient of Dr Skudlarska's for some time. She is such a caring and understanding dr. I have heard few complaints about wait time and what the families seem to forget is that when they first came to the practice they received what the office calls a "packet". This packet clearly states what to expect at the visit. It states it can take up to 2 hours due to the testing and private time with the physician that each patient deserves. I myself have never felt rushed with the dr as I have asked her to help me care for my mother any way she can. She has never ever made me believe the visits would be quick or rushed. The office staff explain to everyone that I have seen come and go in that office that the testing itself can take up to a half hour depending on the patient's mental status. I have watched other families come in and be informed of the wait time. People need to understand that this office is not your typical office. The office gives treatment to the… elderly, normally with very debilitating dementia. This requires input from family members. I have never had time to speak privately with my mother's primary dr or her specialists and quite frankly she tells them "everything is fine" when she sees them. That is not the case with Dr Skudlarska. She asks ME what I see with my mother. This means the world to me as I have learned that my mother has a type of dementia I didn't even know existed. Her primary didn't even know how to diagnose this type of dementia. I could type for days about how wonderful the dr and her staff are. They make me feel like we are long-time friends. My mother and myself feel like we are at our second home when we go there! We love Dr Skudlarska and her staff!

took my mom with severe memory problems...when we came to office she was taken alone to be examined and i waited for almost an hr.... no explanation to me or to her... mom was humiliated and terrified...had i known any of this i could have made good use of that hour. how this insensitive doc can treat memory impaired elderly is beyond me. i guess the empty waiting room for the hr i waited should have been the first clue. subsequent visits are not with doc but other non md staff...when i said any other doc vst the f/u is with doc i was told they dont operate that way.
