Dr. Benjamin A Gitterman, MD

Benjamin Gitterman, MD is associate professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University. His areas of expertise include children’s environmental health, child advocacy, and community health focused training and program development. Dr. Gitterman is co-director of the Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment, one of 10 federally funded pediatric environmental health centers in the Nation. He directs a regularly scheduled clinic at Children’s National Medical Center dedicated to pediatric environmental health issues, and lead exposure/lead poisoning. He has written and spoken nationally and internationally on the topic of children’s environmental health and has been a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee on Children’s Environmental Health. Dr. Gitterman is the immediate past-president of the D.C. Chapter of the AAP.
