Dr. Benjamin R Lawless

Today was the second experience my family has had with Dr. Lawless at Acworth Wellstar Urgent Care. The first was about a year ago when I was feeling very achy and flu-ish. I had not run any fever, But the flu was running rampant at our church and I felt bad enough to go to urgent care on a Saturday instead of waiting until Monday to go to my primary care doc. I told Dr. Lawless I suspected the flu. He commented that I was not running a fever, so he did not suspect it was the flu. I explained that I don't run fevers, even with flu, strep, etc... He acted like I was talking nonsense when I told him this. After the flu test was completed, he came back in the room and said, "You weren't kidding, were you? You have the flu." Today, I took my daughter to the same urgent care because she was having body aches and had a 100.3 fever before we left. She did not have any COVID-like symptoms, such as trouble breathing, heaviness in the chest and no loss of taste or smell. So I took her to the… urgent care to be sure she didn't have the flu, but gave her some Advil before we left to ease symptoms. When she finally got back to see Dr. Lawless, she did end up with a positive COVID test they ran just in case. But I was highly irritated at the fact that he told her she did not have flu symptoms. What do you call fever and body aches?? No, of course she did not have a fever in his office. She told the nurse she had taken Advil. But he needs to stop telling patients how they do or don't feel. They know their own bodies and it makes them feel like he thinks they are idiots.

I've Dr. Lawless a couple times at the wellstar urgent care and have always be pleased. He always shows concern and treats me according

Dr Lawless has abandoned his patients in the Hampton Roads area. He left the area without telling his patients and offered no referrals to his patients. He just vanished.

I would not recommend Dr. Lawless. I did not feel that my concerns about my health were taken seriously and I no longer go to MedExpress in case he might be the one treating me.
