Dr. Benjamin G Swartout, MD

Dr. Swartout performed a revision surgery 6 months ago. Approximately 1.5 years ago, another surgeon 'botched' my first surgery to repair a collapsed nasal valve, repair a deviated septum and remove a 'bump' on the bridge of my nose (none was done). In addition, I experienced extreme post surgical pain from the first surgery. That botched surgery did not restore my ability to breathe. Dr. Swartout is truly a wonderful physician. He is honest, caring, and sets forth reasonable expectations. 6 months after Dr. Swartout's revision surgery, my recovery has exceeded his initial expectations. I can breathe (which is amazing), the bump on the bridge of my nose is gone, and the red blotch continues to fade away. I so appreciate Dr. Swartout's professionalism and skill as a surgeon. He gets 10 stars from me!

I am very picky. He earned my trust and results were great so far 3 months post surgery. He is ent and does rhinoplasty septoplasty too

He trained under Dr. Dean Toriumi but he doesn’t operate on anyone who already has rib cartilage grafts. He doesn’t know how to remove the grafts. So what was the point in him training under Toriumi? Dr. Swartout should have a notice on his website that says “I don’t work on noses that already have rib cartilage grafts cause I’m not in the mood to remove them.” He also says on a number of sites that he likes to give back and help the community but he turns down any patient who has had a previous unsuccessful rhinoplasty cause he can’t deal will “sad” patients. He wants everyone to be upbeat and happy. How can someone who has had an unsuccessful rhinoplasty walk into his office all smiley? Dr. Swartout has no idea what helping the community is and how to have compassion towards patients of botched rhinoplasty. Don’t waste your time seeing him if you already have rib cartilage grafts in your nose.

I flew over 5000 miles on two separate occasions to see Dr. Ben Swartout for revision rhinoplasty consultations. Although he did not perform any surgeries for me, I did however, find him to be most helpful, honest and respectful. Actually, of all the surgeons that I have consulted with, he is by far, my favorite. It is impossible to dislike this man. He is down to earth, humble, professional and he has a marvelous sense of humor. He was extremely truthful and he answered all my questions. He does not over book patients like a lot of surgeons seem to do to get more business. In fact, he mentioned to me that he is not money driven and if he could perform surgeries for free in order to help botched victims, he would! I thought that was a very nice thing he said. He ensured that he spent sufficient time with me and I did not feel rushed at all during both of my consultations. I highly recommend Dr. Swartout. He performs many facial surgeries and from my understanding, he is… especially dexterous and skilled in revision rhinoplasty with rib grafts. I must also mention that he did not charge me for my consultations. Thank you.

A very nice man who has the best facial expressions that I have ever seen on a single human being. Truly remarkable. He gave me all the time in the world during my consultations and never rushed me. Unfortunately he was unable to help me but I appreciate his kindness as well as his honest advice. What a nice humble man with a wonderful sense of humor and personality. Thank you Dr. Swartout. I seldom write reviews but on this occasion I feel it necessary to in order to help others who may be considering Dr. Benjamin Swartout as their plastic surgeon. I must firstly state that this is a consultation (only) review and I sincerely hope that it is beneficial to you. Prior to booking my free consultation with Dr. Swartout, I had thoroughly screened through many plastic surgeons in the US. Many of whom seemed to be somewhat obsessed with marketing and getting in as many patients as possible. Surprisingly, some of the big names out there were not ENT qualified and over rated, and seeing as the nose, aside from its aesthetics also has a functional purpose, it was imperative that I selected an ENT qualified surgeon. Dr. Swartout was impressive because he is the complete opposite of the typical Beverly Hills Surgeon and I must state that he is also highly skilled in complex rib rhinoplasty revisions. He is not at all into aggressive marketing, and nor does he charge a penny… for consultations and pressurize prospective patients into booking surgery with him. He spoke to me with tremendous respect, courteous and intelligence. He also answered all my questions, he produced a morph for me and he gave me his honest opinion. He did not rush through my consultation and I found him so very humble and kind. I was ready to book and pay for my surgery however he felt I did not require further surgery. Unlike some of the other surgeons whom I had previously consulted with in the area, he was the most sincere, well-mannered and honest of them all. He is not at all money hungry and it is obvious that he has selected this line of work for the pure purpose of helping people. He is extremely smart and on the ball. If you are searching for an ethical, skilled, compassionate, sympathetic, caring, knowledgeable surgeon then Dr. Swartout is your man! He also has the best personality and witty sense of humor! I am so pleased that I made the long overseas journey to see this gentleman of a surgeon. I wish you all the best in your quest for finding a surgeon and with the outcome of your surgery. Dr. Swartout is an incredible surgeon. My granddaughter is only one week post surgery and she already looks amazing. He is an incredibly kind, patient and thoughtful person. I don’t have the words to express how grateful my family is for the way he handled a difficult case and made my granddaughter so happy. If I could give him a thousand stars I would.

The Staff is amazing!

I went to 4 of the top facial plastics rhinoplasty docs in southern california. All were great but Dr. Swartout was the best. I had my primary (open) rhinoplasty 3 years ago and was very unhappy with the results. Dr. Swartout spent an hour with me and we both agreed upon a digital image of what I wanted my nose to look like. He told me it's important that we're on the same page and that's why the digital image is so important...it's his goal to achieve that result while doing the surgery. It's been 2 months and my nose looks fabulous. I went to a family party 8 days after surgery and no one noticed I had surgery. All they said was "wow you look great", etc. I met with another, well-known, doc in town who is known for closed primary rhino and he referred me to Dr. Swartout. He told me he has sent patients to various facial plastics docs and Dr. Swartout's patients have consistently been the happiest. That's all I needed to hear. I few of my close friends and relatives are MDs… and they told me to make sure to have a board-certified, ENT-trained, facial plastics doc do my surgery and not have a general plastics doc do it. ENT docs focus ONLY on the face/neck during their entire training. General plastics focus on the entire body (breast, lipo, etc). I was dreading have a revision, especially because I had such a bad experience with my first surgery. Dr. Swartout gained my trust and delivered realistic, beautiful results. When having plastic surgery, it's wise to get several consultations/opinions. It would be unwise not to have one of those be with Dr. Swartout.

After having two failed rhinoplasty procedures, I was lucky to find Dr. Swartout. He completely fixed my nose and dramatically improved my breathing (which was never addressed in my previous surgeries). My nose also looks beautifu! I had given up on my nose ever being fixed let alone looking normal. After my fist visit, I was convinced Dr. Swartout could help me. He is very friendly and patient and truly cares about each patient's experience pre- and post-op. Because he took his time and was so careful, I had practically no swelling or bruising. Within a week my nose looked normal. I am so thankful for everything Dr. Swartout was able to do for me.
