Dr. Bernadette Lourdes Angeles, MD

This office requires intake paperwork that can take at least a couple hours to complete. Dr. Angeles doesn’t even peek at it, doesn’t do her due diligence before appointments to understand why the patient is there and seems to have an agenda of pushing a certain medication whether it’s beneficial or not. It wasn’t until about 30 minutes into the appointment that I realized she was completely clueless as to why I was there. Her questions were very close ended, she wasn’t actively listening and made odd comments. And the bad experience doesn’t end with her, Chantel at the front desk has a nasty personality and seems to get off on being rude and unhelpful.

I have been a patient of Dr. Angeles for over a decade. She is not only brilliant, knowledgable, empathetic and relatable but she is down-to-earth and real. She's also always on-time for scheduled appointments! It's apparent that she truly cares about me, my mental health, my wellbeing, and my family! Every appointment she asks about my family and remembers the minor details. If you are looking for a psychiatrist who combines expertise, empathy, and a commitment to your well-being, look no further! Dr. Angeles is truly a five-star professional who has made an indelible impact on my life.

Dr. Angeles is the absolute sweetest, most helpful human. She will do anything to help you, 1000/10 would recommend.

Just an overall poor experience. Save yourself agony. Go somewhere else. Added insult, her receptionist Chantelle is downright mean and the office is outdated and dirty.

This office is so well run. She stays on time most often and always says I can call if I need something. Her front desk receptionist is so nice. She took time out to calm me down during a phone call and the dr was out of the office. This office works so well together and anticipate your needs. I had to wait for a prior authorization for a medication and my insurance and pharmacy made the office and doctor jump through so many hoops, they still did everything they needed to do get it done. I would highly recommend this doctor. Her caring, compassionate demeanor is refreshing in a field where most offices just run you through the motions.

After being asked what meds I’m taking (I take exactly what she prescribed) she threw a hissyfit and asked why I was taking so much of each particular med. when I told her that I’m taking exactly what you prescribed she rifles through her notes and said “oh, your right”. No apologies, no explanation, nothing. Then she tells me my labs came back positive for marijuana. Duh! She knew from day 1 I use marijuana on occasion for help with depression and anxiety. She refused to prescribe one of my meds because of this and told me I was a drug abuser. Besides all of this, the office personnel are rude and unprofessional with an unusal lack of compassion. They will nickel and dime you to death. Need a script called in it’s 25.00, need paperwork... 25.00, need to talk to the doctor on the phone... minimum 15.00. I’m afraid to sneeze in the office for fear of being charged for it. I’m so done with this place. 15 minute med review with insurance still costs 80.00 out of pocket. You’re better… off going someplace else

Doctor Angeles is Competent, Compassionate, and has a timely sense of Humor. Dr. Angeles is highly recommended.

Knowledgeable and kind

I feel so fortunate that I found Dr. Angeles! For years, I had been diagnosed with depression, but wasn't getting any better on the anti-depressants other doctors prescribed. I was thinking obsessively and cycling through the same thoughts and scenarios until I thought I was truly going crazy. My mind was like a broken record with the needle (my thoughts) stuck in a groove. I had no joy in life and felt totally hopeless. None of the medications from the other doctors worked for long. Dr. Angeles diagnosed me as Bi-polar which was a scary thing to hear, but now that she's put me on the right combination of medication -- Depokote, Seroquel and Lamictal -- I'm a different person. I am now happy and high functioning. BTW -- if you don't feel better on the meds she prescribes, stick with her. She always has a "Plan B" and will work with you to get it right. Also, remember it can take a few weeks to get the full effect. Although I was initially upset about the label "bi-polar" because of the… stigma sometimes associated with the term, I'm smart enough to know that the condition is like any other physical illness. Just as a diabetic needs insulin, we need to replace certain chemicals that our bodies lack in order to be healthy. Dr. Angeles is respectful and regards you as a person, not an illness. She is amazingly conscientious about getting back to you when you leave a message for her. It might be at the end of the day after she finishes her appointments, but she always gets back. She is a delightful person with a great sense of humor and compassion. Please don't let the earlier negative reviews about the staff dissuade you. If you look at the dates on the reviews, you will see that they are mostly prior to the time that she started her own practice in Novi on 12 mile. Her present staff is courteous, efficient and prompt about answering the phone and giving Dr. Angeles her messages. If you are looking for a great psychiatrist, make an appointment with her. This is the first time I've ever written a review for anyone, but I felt I had to take the time to do this one. I know she can help people out there who are looking for a great doctor, but don't know how to find one. I was just lucky!

The Staff was helpful. Dr. Angeles was professional yet compassionate.
