Dr. Bernard John Bogard, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Bogard for almost 8 years now and he has been thorough and attentive to give me the right combination of medications. Not only so that the medications work best for me medically, but for my insurance coverage (or not as the case has been). He has been understanding when I was unemployed. The staff is always courteous and prompt when I need to reschedule an appointment or request a refill. His appointments are usually scheduled way in advance, so there is no wait time unless you are late. He's the best!

I've been seeing Dr. Bogard for close to four years now. In my opinion, he has been one of the better (more empathic) psychiatrists I have seen. Not only has Dr.Bogard been willing to engage in a bit of talk therapy during our sessions, but he has also been open to trying any and every pharmaceutical treatment to deal with my intractable anxiety/depression. Dr. Bogard appears to go by the philosophy that everyone responds differently to medications, and, in my case at least, he has been completely flexible in trying different combinations.

I started seeing this doctor for depression. He just wanted to prescibe medications for me. I asked him if he thought I therapist would be good for me and he didn't know, everyone is different he said. No help at all. I went to someone else, they referred me to therapist and I am doing much better today. I would not waste my time with this guy.

Dr Bogard was my psychiatrist for 10 years- would have been for longer if I hadn't moved. He is fantastic! When I started seeing him I was a very ill teenager. He really listened to me and respected my feelings and my intelligence. He saw me through some really tough times. One time, when I was hospitalized at Aurora, my appointment time fell at the same time as breakfast. Most psychiatrists would just skip that day's appt, but he found me in the cafeteria and sat down and at breakfast with me! This sounds small, but at a time when I was feeling worthless, he showed me that I was a real person and he cared. He always listened to my ideas regarding my treatment and managed to talk me into healthy decisions and a balanced life. He helped me through the process of getting on disability and then, amazingly, got me healthy enough to go off of disability. In gaps in my insurance, he saw me for a reasonable fee, showing that he cared enough for my continuing care. Also, he volunteers time for… the local DBSA group, answering medication questions during support group meetings. I would recommend this doctor to anyone, especially someone with intelligence and willingness to take an active role in their recovery.

had to write this to warn everyone to stay away from Dr. Bogard. It's time for this guy to retire! He was very callous to me.

Dr. Bogard was very inpatient with me. Just wanted to prescribe meds. Very hasty and was rude. I soon found out that someone I work with had the same experience.
