Dr. Bernard Clement Kim, MD

Bernard was condescending, infantilizing, and ultimately did not care to explain why he made certain decisions about my medical care. He has right to take you away from the person you have historically been working on medication management with and will be solely transferred into his care, it too many appointments had been missed. I was not notified of this, was not warned after so many missed. He stated that we could talk about me being transferred back to my original provider after some time had passed and I did not miss appointments. Finally happen, he agreed I had not missed in a good amount of time, but still refused. He cited that my original provider was not capable of providing me with good care. retaliated and terminated my treatment at the practice. The other providers at the practice are amazing. I would never recommend Bernard to anyone for fear they would be treated as if they are incapable of sound decision making. He will terminate your care if you complain to… loudly.

I’m sorry to say I agree with the claim that Dr. K is very condescending and tends to brush aside anything I report with regard to how I’m feeling. He really does. I do appreciate the willingness to try new medication combos. But he’s got me taking a fistful of pills every night; it’s insane.

Women shouldn't expect to be taken seriously by Dr. Kim. If you question his conclusions or choices, you are condescendingly made to feel like you're being aggressive and difficult. His tone completely changes and he says things in a way that makes you feel like you're being a nuisance by asking questions or disagreeing with him. He is completely unable to handle displays of emotions from his depressed patients. He expects you to report that you're feeling better after he throws you some pills that he probably didn't give enough thought to. When I was going through a situation at work that made me feel worthless and like I wanted to go on medical leave, he basically implied that I was hysterical. Stay away, especially if you are an Asian woman.

Dr. Kim is incredibly condescending and gets unusually defensive when you ask him simple, valid questions such as why he is choosing to prescribe you a particular medication. He required me to visit the office every 2 weeks in order for him to fill my prescriptions each month. Because these visits lasted no more than 10 minutes with him asking me 2-3 simple questions such as "how are you doing with this medication?" and because when i told him it wasnt helping me he would tell me to wait until the next visit to prescribe me something newnew each time, it because clear after many of these such visits that it was just an excuse to bill my insurance. If you are looking for a psychiatrist who genuinely cares about your wellbeing and will prescribe you medication based on your needs (not simply the latest medication the local drug rep is pushing), it would be best to look elsewhere.
