Dr. Bertram Martin Froehly Jr, MD

I have never been to specialist who literally had me in tears during and after seeing him/her. Told me it wasn't possible for me to feel pain where I did. Wanted me to answer yes or no to questions. Interrupted me when I tried to speak. Twisted my arm that has continuous numbness and asked me which side was numb. I couldn't tell and he insisted I give him an answer. So I guessed just to please him. I wish a third person was in the room to verify his rudeness and "guesses" as to what I needed. Ordered traction device for my neck which has bony spurs and a collar to sleep in. I told him I had tried that twice in the past and it didn't help. I told him I needed a shot that eases the pain for up to ,4 years. Done under fluroscopic conditions. Didn't even hear me and ordered the device anyway. I didn't want meds just what I know works for me. Being almost 70 yrs old and him mentioning surgery is not an option for me. I will talk to my pcp and tell him of this awful experience.

This man did not listen to me for more than 5 seconds before cutting me off. I will never go back to him.

Froehly is a HORRIBLE doctor. I just read the reviews here and it's crazy because that's exactly what I experienced. He doesn't listen at all. he kept telling me that it was impossible for me to feel the things I was telling him. It's like he is trained to listen for certain words and when i didn't say them he just kinda blew off everything else. He called my problem "the episodes you can't seem to explain" He wrote me a prescription and i asked him how he could prescribe meds without knowing whats wrong with me. He said he was basing it on what I told him and said but you didn't hear anything. He interrupted everything I said and spoke over me telling me that wasn't possible. The man was so awful I left there in tears!! Such a waste of time and the only reason there is ease of appointments is because nobody wants to see him!!! Don't go to him..ever!!

This doctor is terrible. I have seen him twice and wont be going back. He has horrible people skills, he is very rude, speaks over you and wont listen to your ideas, he comes up with an idea and then sticks to it and wont listen to you. I have all the symptoms of MS and my MRI doesnt say I have MS so he wont look any further into seeing what is wrong with me, he just gets set on soemthing and just wont listen to you at all to the poing of rudeness. He even raised his voice at us and seemed irritated when we didnt agree wtih the diagnoses he gave to me. He even got up and mumbled something and went out of the room and down the hall into another room without even saying goodbye or anything and he did this both times, extremely rude! I would not recomend this doctor to anyone, I am very suprised by any good reviews on this man. I think if you have something black and white that he can easily figure out maybe he is nice to you, but if you have something rare going on that he cannot figure… out then he is rude to you and has no time for you. I wont be going back to this doctor and feel sorry for anyone who goes to see him.

I normally check this site first before seeing a dr. I have been ill for nearly two years, with a hard to diagnose rare disease. If I had known this dr was so strange and old, I wouldnt have gone, what a waste of time. First of he doesnt listen, he asks questions and then doesnt wait for the answer instead talks over you, its rude, he did it to me at least a dozen times. His exam was a joke, he litterally had me in near tears when he was trying to bend my legs in positions that they do not bend in, even though I was trying to explain it to him, he talked over me and dismissed everything. He dismissed the fact that I could possibly have MS, even though I have all the symptoms of it, he did stuff with his hands and fingers in front of my face, and then told my dad and I I dont have it. My father had to beg for him to do any MRI on me so we can rule it out, after the MRI we will be asking for a spinal time as well. We shouldnt have to beg for tests that should be ran, even his nurse spoke… to me in private and was questioning me as to what tests he is running and why he didnt help me. I think grandpa needs to retire, he he is still practicing medicine the way they did in the 60's. Sorry this is just my opinion, I didnt like him, his bed side manner was horrible, his people skills and knowlege of things are lacking. Id be careful going to him. I will be looking for another Nuerologist, one that is younger and is more current and up to date on current medicine, and actually cares about there patients and wants to listen.

I was at ease with Dr. Froehly, he's a direct type of Doctor who knows how to get to root of the real problem. He listened when my pcp wasn't. Because of his care, i'm now ready to go back to work.

I do not feel Dr. Froehly takes the time to listen to what I am saying. He interupts me a lot and I feel dismisses my thoughts as not worth his time.

I was a bit nervous before my appointment since another reviewer had reported this doctor as being rude. However, I found him very pleasant and polite, with a nice sense of humor. He didn't hear some of the things I said and misheard a few others but he seems to be somewhat hard of hearing and not deliberately rude. He appears to tune out any noises he hears while taking notes so one should wait until he is done writing in order to speak, just to make sure he has heard and understood. He was thorough in his exam. He does ask very specific and detailed questions and he wants them answered in an exact manner and in a particular order, so a narrative by the patient about symptoms isn't how he collects the information he needs in order to make a diagnosis. He was concerned about addiction to medicine, but the condition I have is supposed to last the rest of my life, so I did not quite understand why it would matter if I became addicted and couldn't stop taking a drug as I was going to be… taking it for the rest of my life anyway. Also, I mentioned several drugs that were found only in the last few years to be used for my condition, but he either didn't see the research or didn't believe it although it was published in the Mayo Clinc reports which is reputable. He prescribed the traditional drugs used for my condition although I wanted to try the newer ones. I did nicely point out one error on paperwork and it was corrected. He even offered to help me fix paperwork another physician had messed up.

Instead of searching for the cause of the problem, Dr Froehly just keeps giving more perscriptions and then never follows up to see if they're working.
