Dr. Beth Rhodes Duncan, MD

I saw Dr. Beth Mizerny Rhodes (now Duncan 20 years ago. I went to her for tingling in my scalp and fatigue. She diagnosed me with a sinus infection, but said antibiotics wouldn’t work because I had a deviated septum creating a blockage, and I needed surgery to fix it. She didn’t do just that. She completely removed my superior and middle turbinates, along with ethmoid cells. She took out the entire medial wall leaving me with only my inferior turbinates. Turbinates have very important jobs. They filter and humidify, they help create a path that air travels through when you breath. I don’t have ANY of those things. I have empty nose syndrome and am disabled for the rest of my life. Look it up and you’ll see the devastation this causes. I had to stop teaching and have remained unemployed and disabled for the last 10 years. My life is a shell of what it used to be. It took me a few years to figure out what was wrong with me until 2 things happened. The first thing was that her adopted… daughter from Russia (Kristen who poses as a nurse, ended up in my first grade class. During several school meetings I saw Dr. Duncan’s personality. She has many narcissistic behaviors. The second thing was when I went to an allergist for a second opinion because allergy shots weren’t helping. He said, “ you don’t have allergies but I could drive a Mac truck up your nose. There’s no cure for what I have. There are no implants or anything that can take away the pain. My nose is dried out, I have lots of crusting that’s hard to remove, swelling, infection, nerve pain ( Trigeminal Neuralgia), balance issues, double vision, tinnitus, dizziness and daily severe pain. I’ve had treatment at John Hopkins, I’ve had 4 more surgeries to address the infection, I’ve been to 4 other ENT’s. There are no solutions. The pain is severe. I wake up choking on crusting that gets stuck in my throat, constant post nasal drip, nose bleeds, etc… She ruined my life.

At first I thought she was good. She’s not, run and don’t look back. Her Med tech Kristen is just as dishonest, disturbed, did you telling clients and outside facilities she is a Nurse.

PART 1 of 2: A MUST READ (Ex- Employee Before She Fled Maryland in 2009) I APOLOGIZE AHEAD OF TIME FOR THE SPELLING & GRAMMER ERRORS.. VERY LONG COMMENT & USED SPEECH TO TEXT. I worked for Dr. Rhodes for most of 2008 in the Prince Frederick office and 1 day a weej in Annapolis. I was fresh out of school for Medical Aesthetics with a newborn baby at home. I had no knowledge of being a medical assistance. She hired me to work Aesthetics, but instead fired her nurse and had me resume the responsibilities of a registered nurse. I was told that I was a unregistered medical assistant and that it was legal to perform anything that she gave me permission to do. I was a young mom only in my early 20s, unaware of the laws. I was excited to have a wonderful job right out of school with two children to take care of. It was only me and her working the entire back-office. I did all of the intake for her ENT patients. I also ran the entire Medi-Spa practice, performed all of the facial peels and… treatments, tattoo removal & laser hair removal, medical skin care line, make up line, etc.. I was not legally able to use any of those laser machines or use the chemicals to perform chemical peels. Additionally, she had me doing all of the allergy shots for the walk-in patients that came in daily. Eventually she trained me how to do allergy testing, even on young children. Every Friday was it an office surgery day, where she did IV sedation for faceless and laser liposuction and similar procedures. Often she would rush through these procedures as she was trying to tend to all of her other ENT patients throughout the day. She would take shortcuts and not laser enough of the fat to be suctioned out and the fat would get stuck so she would give up. The tools were not properly sterilized on a regular basis and patients would return with infections. Prior to me taking over allergies testing, she regularly inflated test results. Even when the patient wasn't and need of allergy serums, she would indicate a larger reaction size on the charts in order to get paid by the Insurance. the practice that was owned prior to her taking over the allergy department, what's by another doctor and I don't remember his name but his wife was a nurse. She helped out in the beginning which training in the Annapolis office once a week. she was aware of what was going on and when I questioned about the inflated results, she reassured me that I was doing it properly.

My allergies and sinus issues etc. are the best they have ever been and I have been to a number of ENTs over the years. I like that she really listens and addresses my concerns.

Was told she was a allergist. Not the case. Unaware of what it all entails and I ended up in the hospital because of her lack of knowledge.

I've known her personally in the past. She is absolutely nuts and a sociopath. It's a wonder she still Has a license

Dr, Duncan is a major rip off doctor. I made an appt. for ringing in the ears. This is how it played out. I got there,I took out my hearin aides as directed, she looked in my ears and said I needed a hearing test. I disagreed as I had a test recently. She insisted so I had to get one in her office. She told me to see her afterwards which i did. When I saw her she said "you need hearing aides! to add insult to injury her report indicated she wrote something not discussed. I asked about the ringing in the ears and she said " that can't be cured." Then she sent a bill for 100 which I refused to pay. Then she threatened to send it to a collection agency.I paid it but I want it back!

I was the first patient to arrive that morning, but wasn't seen for well over an hour. She made a quick diagnosis, but then suggested additional testing. When I received the test results I called asking for an explanation and discussion about what to do next. I've called 4 times over the last month, but no one has gotten back to me at all.

Aside from this office being an insurance factory, this doctor is just bad. She does not listen, nor care about what you have to say or feel. She told me my sinuses were in "horrendous" condition and she needed to "rebuild" them. Never ran tests that were supposed to be run. Immediately after surgery I was much worse than prior to. She called me, yes, literally, crazy and blamed my complaints on a ficticious diagnosis; one she made up. After a few post surgical visits she springs on me that she needs to "complete" the surgery. I ran as fast as I could. I had her fake diagnosis examined by a REAL doctor and was told I DO NOT HAVE the condition she claimed I had. I found a different ENT and after a CT Scan and a scope it was revealed my sinuses were never done but the septum only had been repaired. Never again for her or Cooper! Additionally, Cooper has repeatedly billed me for tests that were never done! They can't even provide documentation but have sent their bills to collection.

If you value your life and health seek another opinion. She was going to do a fact finding biopsy on my throat. It would have been un-necessary surgery for which she said she would keep me in the hospital an extra day if needed. Second opinion revealed, all I had was LPR with no biopsy surgery needed. Who knows what damage she would have done to my throat and billed my insurance.
