Dr. Beth Galyn Lafont, MD

I found Dr. Lafont's practice on my insurers website. My endocrinologist had recommended me seeing a GYN. Even though a new patient, I was scheduled for an appointment within three days. After reading some of the reviews I was somewhat apprehensive. All of my doctors are always interested in my concerns, spend plenty of time with me and are thoughtful and respectful. And happily this was my experience with Dr Lafont. She spent time getting to know me and my issues before asking me to prepare for my exam. She is thorough, explains everything, relieves any anxiety and has a solution while all the time being thoughtful and respectful. I am so happy to have her as my GYN.

I feel Dr. Lafont was very kind and personable, she really took her time to explain things and go over our options. the office was more what we had issues with, not Dr. Lafont.

I am not usually one to write a review, but felt it was very important to do so after the experience I had with Dr. Lafont and her medical practice. She was very nice when I first met her but the practice failed to tell me as the patient about possible expenses I may endure from a procedure. They told me that the procedure was 100% covered by my insurance. That was the case until I receive a bill for over $100. When I confronted Dr. Lafont and her nursing staff, they admitted it was their fault and told me they were going to change some procedures because of it. However, still failed to pay my bill and told me it was my responsibility. They said it was separate from them (lab Corp) and that those signs were hung up in the office/waiting area. While this is true, I explained to them that I was still not notified of a possible bill that I may receive. My interpretation of a procedure being 100% covered, means I am not paying anything out of pocket. Long story short, I feel disrespected… and devalued as a patient of Dr. Lafont’s. I felt the need to write a review in hopes that someone else does not experience what I have. Even the way the medical staff handled the issue was rude and unhelpful. I understand sometimes things happens but why should I have to pay for a mistake done by my gynocologist?

She was my doctor until I was dropped as a patient without any reason. I am 35 weeks pregnant with a baby that might have down syndrome and has a heart defect. I am still working a full time job with lots of over time. I missed 2 appointments due to my job not allowing me to leave after my 8 hour shift to make my appointment. I called and left messages to be put on time restrictions at work but no one called me back. My hours went up at work. Working 6am to 5pm everyday make it harder to even call her office to try to reach her. Cant leave messages after they are closed. Now I have no primary doctor for my unborn baby and no one will take me because I am so far along with a high risk pregnancy. Thanks Dr.Lafont.

Beth LaFont has been one of the most unpleasant and unprofessional doctors I have ever encountered. Her office double billed us. My insurance company has an ongoing open investigation into bills that were mailed with no claim or invoice numbers. She dropped me as a patient when the discrepancies were found. I was 33 weeks pregnant. Her office held medical records making it difficult for my new doctor. Horrible experience with her!!!

I defiantly would recommend her to family and friends. I have a hard time going to see doctors, I always feel uncomfortable and like they don't really listen. Dr Lafont was great with a positive upbeat personality and really paid attention to what MY concerns and made sure they were takin care of to the best she could.

At first, Dr.Lafont seemed like a nice and caring woman until the further along I became in my pregnancy. It was about my 34th week and my stomach was measuring small. She sent me to have an ultrasound done and it was concluded that my baby had a small stomach/waist with a larger head. When it was brought to my attention, I wasn't too much worried about it because his father is built the exact same way. To be on the safe side, she referred me to St.Ann's Fetal Medicine to have a further look into it. After seeing them I felt at ease. They said the baby was very active, his weight was good, fluid okay, heartbeat strong, and at this time he had started breathing on his own. They did however say they wanted to do another ultrasound and a non-stress test. I rejected it, feeling that it was not needed. The word got back to her and she PRESSURED me into taking this test. Just to get her off of my back, I agreed. She wanted to do it once a week until i delivered on top of my weekly… appointments (37 weeks during arrangement). I showed up for the non-stress test and ultrasound on a Monday. The sonographer was positive and reassured me everything looked okay. When I saw her for the follow-up, she wanted to do another test that Thursday before my appointment because apparently he wasn't moving as much as she would like even though he was kicking the entire time. Thursday came and I rejected the test, told her I was done with it all. She then tells me she would prefer to do the test because he might not be receiving all the nutrients from the placenta, even though when I had the ultrasound on Monday, he was 7lbs. 4 oz (39weeks). It's almost like she took it personal. She then measured me and told me I was 37 inches and still measuring small, after she told me I was 38 inches at my 38th week appointment. So apparently my baby shrunk an inch in one week. I don't feel that she is sincere & it's all about raking up the insurance bill with test and ultrasounds. I thought your doctor is supposed to encourage and not pressure, make you feel at ease not stress, and most of all, gain your trust. I wouldn't recommend to ANYONE.

I came in to her practice high risk, so I felt my situation should be handled delicately. I felt that Dr. Lafont was nice and seemed to care about me as a patient. However, things soon began to change. She would tell me at one appointment what we'd be doing at the next appointment. The next appointment would come and she would completely forget what we discussed. My questions were answered with very general responses. Her office staff is extremely unorganized and unprofessional. No one takes accountability for mistakes. Dr. Lafont tried to talk me into a c-section when there was no need for one. I delivered successfully vaginally, which she did not show up to. Additionally I had no follow up with her after the birth because she didn't check up. I'm currently searching for a new OB to fit my needs!

I will start off with the positive. I like how easy it was to get an appointment with Dr. LaFont. I also like that the waiting time during a visit is very short. However, I do not like feeling rushed during an appointment. I have to ask all questions about my problem or visit very quickly because Lafont gives short answers. I do not feel like she cares much about my actual well being. Instead getting me out of the office in a quick manner seems to be the goal. Last time I was there for an appointment I was prescribed an antibiotic and she forgot to send it in to my pharmacy. I had to wait all weekend to call back and ask a nurse to resend it because they obviously weren't open. I had to wait knowing what I needed the drug for while not being able to obtain it. I also did not want to go to a different doctor to get the same diagnosis and pay more money for it. When I called in on the following Monday to have the prescription sent in again I was not given an up front apology or a… reason for the mistake. I am forgiving and reasonable and would have appreciated an up front apology for the forgotten prescription. It was a hassle. I do not think they cared about my situation. I plan to find another OBGYN.

One of the things I like best about Dr. Lafont is how well she listened to me and my concerns. I opted to do a natural birth with my second child and loved how supportive she was about it. She voiced a few concerns initially, and we talked it all through. Ultimately let me do what I thought was right for me, and stood by me on it. My son's birth went flawlessly. I couldn't have asked for better.Her bedside manners are wonderful. I recommend her to all my friends when they are looking for an OB/GYN. I can't speak highly enough of her!
