Dr. Beth Ann Maxwell, MD

I found out only after a horrible experience with Greg Whorral what kind of doctors Excela is hiring. This includes Beth Maxwell. I already had confirmed ultrasounds revealing an internal ovarian cyst, that was as big as an ovary on its own. I couldn't sleep or sit without being in excruciating pain, and my period pains have been debilitating for years. I told both Greg and Beth that I thought I had endometriosis, because I could feel the pain growing worse and moving higher up my torso as the year went by. Dr Maxwell rolled her eyes at me, told me the pain I was in was just gas, and I had no need to worry about my fertility. I insisted on a laparoscopic surgery to find out. She kept insisting it was probably just gas, but scheduled the surgery anyways. Fast forward to after the surgery. While still barely even conscious from anesthesia, she reveals to me that oh, I actually have a significant case of endo, from my taint to practically my sternum. I faintly remember the picture… looking like someone went nuts with a bottle of chocolate syrup on my insides. My boyfriend said, "I guess it's not gas, then." Whereafter she stormed out in a huff. Fun fact, after the surgery I was suffering an allergic reaction that no one bothered to do anything about until after it was brought to their attention. She also told me she would surgically remove any lesions she found (she didn't, just the cyst.) When I try to bring up surgery to remove the lesions, she tells me my only options are either total hysterectomy (I came with concerns about my ability to have children, so, uh, no, that doesn't work) or a medication that has been shown to give women autoimmune disorders that attack their bones/offers zero relief for my condition. The company that makes it is currently under lawsuit for it. When asked for any other kind of options, such as medical marijuana for pain relief vs copious doses of NSAIDS, she told me that it to her was a TOTAL last resort, versus gutting me like a fish, which is somehow less extreme. When asked about doing hormone panels to see if I was estrogen dominant (something that can aggravate endometriosis rather aggressively) she said she had no idea or reason for why I would want to do that. If you hate doing your job this badly, why the heck even do it? I am now trying to find an endometriosis specialist whose first response isn't to push meds on me that I am allergic to, or belittle my suffering, or treats me like a child who doesn't know my body. This doctor has left me hesitant to visit other gynecologists for fear that I'll go through another gauntlet as bad as what she put me through.

Dr. Maxwell has helped me through many difficult times over the years. I never have to wait for an appointment in any situation. She is highly professional and makes sure I am well taken care of. My health is important to her and she makes sure I am healthy. I highly recommend her.

I went here for a year with issues that were just ignored. A year and a half later I had to leave this Dr. office and find a new Dr. I am a CMA who worded for a Gyno so they did nothing right considering my Grandma and now my Aunt just passed away from uterus cancer.

Beth is one of the most courteos, professionals in this businees, she has a wonderful bedside manner and even called me for two days straight after my hysterectomy to be sure I was ok. I would reccomend her to anyone, my whole family goes there and no complaints, our children are all well.
