Dr. Beth Marlene Porten, PhD

I originally started with Dr. Porten due to a surprise 1st pregnancy in my mid 30's. I was terrified to become a mother and needed support. When I contacted local agencies they all had a minimum of a 6 month wait list. Dr. Porten got me an appointment quickly. Her appt.'s are consistent, tidy office, very minimal wait times (if ever.) I have seen several therapists throughout my life and Dr. Porten surpasses them all. She is confident, skilled in children, families, and individual therapy. She is accommodating and has perfected the balance of allowing me to vent yet offer insightful feedback. She has assisted my development of healthy coping skills, encourages me to be a better woman/mother and I never feel judged. I highly recommend her expertise. Her wide range of knowledge is amazing. I admire Dr. Porten and am so grateful I found her. It takes time to build rapport with a therapist however Dr. Porten was easy to talk to from day 1. What started me seeking services was pregnancy… depression and situational guilt. Two + years later and I still attend weekly. She has provided me a new perspective on what it means to be a mother/woman/business owner. She will never tell you what to do but her suggestions and ability to assist in processing options is unique and incredibly useful. Don't hesitate in seeking help. There is no shame in asking for advice and support. I am so grateful for Dr. Porten and can't imagine what I would have done had I sat on a wait list for months as opposed to getting help immediately. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Porten. She has accommodated my child in session, boy friend and even my little dog once. She really is the best.
