Dr. Betty Hong Yao, MD

Thanks you so much Dr. Betty Yao for your diligent work to find out why I was all of the sudden feeling so tired, fatigued and gaining weight. I had no idea I could have high blood pressure and heart arrhythmias at age 50. My new medication and proper nutrition has me feeling 20 again. I have been going to Dr. Betty Yao's clinic for 6 years now and counting. She's intelligent, knowledgeable and has excellent skills, and she's also very caring. It's hard to find doctors you can trust now a days, and I can honestly say, I trust her with my health. She explains everything that needs concern in such a way you can easily understand. I am disabled and she had no problem sending me to any specialist I needed to see, specially an orthopedic surgeon (Dr. W. Song @ Nevada Orthopedic and Spine Center). All of the staff members, most of which have been there since I started going there, are nice and kind while being professional at the same time. There's Joy, Diane, Anissa, Daisy, Krysta, Felicia and Jasmine just to name a few. I love going there and talking to them, that's how I knew everybody's names. In fact, my wife liked how I was getting treated there so much, that she changed her PCP and started seeing Dr. Betty Yao, too. I don't understand why there's all these negative… comments about Dr. Yao because it's just not how I know her and her staff. Are they even talking about the same doctor? Idk.

I have been seeing Dr Yao for several years. she has treated me for numerous ailments and injuries. She genuinely concerned about her patients and has a wonderful staff. They are very detail oriented and keep great historical records. I would and have recommended Dr Yao to anyone.

She is a horrible doctor. If I have a choice, I wouldn't even give her a star. No bedside manner and won't listen to her patient. She refused to send referrals to a specialist and claimed that she can treat my conditions. I insisted on seeing a Orthopedic, but she refused to send me to one and asked me to see a PT. That's against my will and she is not giving me the options on who to see. Seriously!!! She is a bad doctor. Don't go to her!

I've been having back pains on and off for 10+ yrs. It started when I strained my back from manually shoveling snow years ago from when I lived in the New England area. Now that I'm retired, my back pain flares up every so often if I turn the wrong way or lift something heavy. I saw Dr. Yao about this and after getting x-rays, she diagnosed me with a weak back and arthritis of the back and her solution was just to go get physical therapy. Really?! She wouldn't refer to me an orthopedic surgeon which in my own opinion, would be more qualified to make a diagnosis and give a treatment plan. If it were simply arthritis, then why am I not having the back pain constantly? Why is the pain only induced by some sort of activity? I don't think Dr. Yao is qualified to make any diagnosis beyond a cold. She then told my husband and I to sit and wait and that she'd return. 20+ mins later my frustrated husband left the room to find out where in the world Dr. Yao wandered off to. He spoke to one of… the ladies in the office who located Dr. Yao. She very casually told the lady to write a script for me to see a physical therapist and that was the end of it. Not even an apology for just leaving us in the exam room waiting for her to return. Dr. Yao doesn't care about her patients and I will be switching to a different doctor. Their office wait times are horrible too. I highly DO NOT recommend her.

Have been seeing Dr. Yao for a year now and she seems nonchalant in her demeanor. Does not want to listen to me when I try to explain my health issues to her. She just keeps rambling and I can never get a word in. Refused to write a script for me to get a blood glucose monitor even though diabetes runs in my family and I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic at the time I made the request. All she said was that she felt that I didn't need one. This comes as no cost to her so I cannot understand why she would deny my request for one. When I was finally able to get in to see a specialist, I was able to get the script for the monitor. I also told her I wanted to see an orthopedic surgeon for some pain that I have been having in my lumbar region. She actually told me she has no idea what kind of specialist I'm talking about that would be able to see me for that. Seriously???

I have nothing against Dr. Yao...i have only seen her twice for routine office visits. But the office staff can really make your experience there awful. Wait time is around 2 hours. Staff is impatient, rude and totally uncaring.....cannot stand going back there to be subjected to the same experience again.

Dr. Yao is an incredible doctor, a rare find in the world of quick-fix practices. Dr. Yao gives a personal experience and is always genuinely concerned for the well being of her patients. Despite the fact that I've moved across town, I refuse to see anyone else.
