Dr. Beverly Jean Stickles, MD

I had surgery at The Surgery Center last Summer. Unfortunately, I did not have the option to choose my anesthesiologist. I "got" whoever was on call that day. I've had anesthesia before and NEVER EVER had a reaction to it. Buy boy, oh boy, did I this time. As soon as I woke up in the recovery area, I was aware of pain - all over pain, not just the surgery site. My BP became elevated and remained elevated for hours. I complained of the pain to the nurse monitoring my vitals. The doctor who performed the surgery was notified about my BP. Was this all due to my reaction to the amount or type of anesthesia given to me? I'll never know. After several hours, as I was being wheeled out to the patient pick-up area, I vomited severely. When I got home, I vomited another four or five times. I went to the ER that night and spent the next seven or eight hours being monitored. I had elevated liver enzymes (203 & 206 vs the range of less than 32). Again, due to the anesthesia? When I… went to my post surgery appointment, a week later, my doctor apologized and said, "We have no choice as to who your anesthesiologist will be. I'm sorry you went through that." Note: I tried to request the anesthesiologist who I had seven months earlier, but he is no longer in the area. Would I have had the same thing happen had I had a different anesthesiologist? In my option, I don't think so. I will never want nor request Dr. Beverly Stickles to treat me or any of my family and friends in the future.
